I grew up in Morganton, NC, so the Blue Ridge Mountains always have a special place in my heart. I earned a BA in English and an MEd in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I taught 4th and 5th grades in High Point and Kernersville before moving to the Columbus, Ohio area. In Ohio, I taught 3rd and 4th grades for a few years while earning an MA in Administration from The Ohio State University. I enjoyed being a principal of a great school in Reynoldsburg, Ohio for nine years. Then I served Whitehall City Schools in Ohio as the Executive Director of Elementary Education.

My wife and I live in Carrboro now, and we love being back home in the Tarheel state! We are both very involved in church work and get our greatest satisfaction in serving others. Also, we love traveling. So far, I’ve been to China, Singapore, Norway, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. There are so many other places to explore, cultures to learn from, and foods to eat! We especially love the rich history, geography, and traditions of this beautiful state.

Welcome Back Swift Creek Cougars!  I am truly honored and excited to be a part of the Swift Creek Elementary family.  It is my belief that fostering positive, collaborative relationships will cultivate a school culture that brings rich and rigorous learning experiences for our students. 
 
Throughout my educational career, I have been afforded the opportunity to grow, learn, and lead in education for 21 years right here in the Wake County Public School System.  Some of my leadership capacities consist of serving as an Instructional Assistant, Third and Fourth Grade Chair, Math Coach, and Assistant Principal.
 
I am originally from Pennsgrove, New Jersey.  Upon graduating from Saint Augustine’s University, in Raleigh, NC with a BA in Elementary Education, I went on to obtain my MA in School Administration with a minor in Curriculum and Instruction from East Carolina University. I take pride in being a lifelong learner and enjoy learning new things to help young people make positive impacts on our ever-changing world.  My husband, Mario and I reside in Raleigh with our two sons, Landon and Lucas. When I am not with my Swift Creek Elementary family, I enjoy spending time with family, shopping, experimenting in the kitchen, decorating, and relaxing.

The elementary school years are the most impressionable years for your child.  It is my goal to provide a safe, inviting, loving, fun, and respectable school community, where your child can increase their confidence and tap into their academic and social-emotional brilliance.  As a team, we can develop and ignite your child’s most impactful character strength quality to become the best version of themselves.
