Mrs. Megan Schwartz - Art

Megan Schwartz earned her Bachelors of Science in Art Education at Appalachian State University in 2009. Growing up in and around Raleigh, she is a product of Wake County schools and is in her ninth year of teaching.

Our art room is a choice-based, TAB art room. TAB stands for Teaching for Artistic Behavior. Research supports the benefits that students receive through participation in art education. A huge part of those benefits come from the habits and practices that authentic art-making requires. In our TAB art room, your children will be required to make choices, experiment with materials, persevere in the face of challenges, problem solve, think critically, and express themselves. The students will engage in art stations where they can explore a variety of media, and learn through mistakes, successes, peer coaching and teacher facilitation. The products of a TAB art education are:
  • A Growth Mindset
  • Increased creativity and critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of art processes through both successes and failures
  • A growing sense of accomplishment and self-worth
  • A growing sense of responsibility for one’s own learning and outcomes
  • Ability to communicate and share ideas with others in a kind and knowledgeable way
These products are ones that will benefit students in the art room and beyond. To learn more about TAB style learning check out teachingforartisticbehavior.org

Ms. Jazzmone Sutton - Music

Music has always been a part of my life. It's even where I got my name from. I was born in eastern North Carolina near Wilmington, which is where I also grew up. I attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for a degree in music education. After graduating, I taught at an elementary in Wilmington for six years. Throughout my time in Wilmington, I discovered how universally amazing music can be. I was able to travel to different countries, teach or experience music with people. A personal goal is to continue my travels and music learning as I grow.
This will be my second year teaching music at Swift Creek. What a great joy it is to teach music every day. I look forward to making music with Swift Creek.

Mrs. Stephanie Wils - Media Specialist

I have been at Swift Creek since January 2017 and am looking forward to many more years! I graduated from East Carolina University undergrad with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and then from UNC Greensboro grad school with a Master in Library and Information Studies. I spent about a decade in the bookselling business before I realized I wanted to be on the other side of the book world and went back to school for my master's. I grew up in Eastern North Carolina, spent most of my childhood in the pool, and currently, I live in Raleigh with my husband and twin daughters. I'm also a huge Carolina Hurricanes fan! Getting to teach our awesome kids about reading for fun and learning, and exciting new ways to use technology combine every day to make my job amazing.
