Welcome back Swift Creek Firsties! I am very honored and excited to be a part of Swift Creek Elementary first grade team. I love having the opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of students. As the poet William Butler Yeats said, “Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire.”

As an Alternative Licensure Institute Cohort, I am excited to put into action all that I have and am learning to help your child become effective and efficient students. I am originally from Raleigh, NC and I am an alumnus of Swift Creek Elementary. I graduated from University of Phoenix with BA in Criminal Justice Administration and am furthering my education by attending Campbell University with a concentration in Elementary Education. My husband, Nathan, and I reside in Clayton with our four sons, Colbe, Devon, Mason, and Logan. When I am not at school, which is very rare, I am spending time with my family, shoe shopping, decorating, baking, and barely relaxing.

First graders' enthusiasm for school and life is infectious, and teaching them is an exciting and joyful experience. It is my goal to give my students the ultimate tools and motivation for them to lead successful and fulfilling lives.

I am an alumna of Swift Creek Elementary School! I received my degree in Elem. Education from East Carolina University in 2009. I previously taught in Pitt County and in England. This will be my fifth year teaching at Swift Creek.

My husband Jamie and I welcomed our littlest love, Emmeline in February. She makes me smile and laugh every day. I love to travel and explore new places. It is a life goal to visit every continent, so far I have visited 4. Some of my most favorite things are being outdoors and spending time with my family. I love cheering on the Wolfpack in any sport but especially in football.

I am so happy to be back at Swift Creek for my second year as an Instructional Assistant for first grade. I’ve worked with children throughout most of my career, originally as a child therapist for many years, and then in various school settings as a teacher assistant. I grew up in South Florida, lived in South Florida after college, spent some time outside of Chicago, and then moved to North Carolina 4 years ago. I love to workout, run, hike, spend lots of time at the beach, and watch college football. I live in Apex with my husband, my two teen boys, and my two crazy dogs.
