This is my third year at Swift Creek but this is my 7th year teaching 3rd grade. I am excited to be here! My passion is getting outside and making learning creative, active, and hands-on. I am currently working on getting my National Boards Certification. I play the ukulele, so be sure to come by for a tune! I can't wait to meet you!

I am originally from Massachusetts, where I went to Salem State University to earn my degree in education. I taught in Massachusetts for four years, two as a Reading Interventionist and two as a third-grade teacher, before moving to North Carolina. This is my fourth year as a third-grade teacher here at Swift Creek. I am married and have a 12-year-old son and two cats (Sunny and Stormy). When I am not teaching, I love reading, doing crafts, and traveling.

I am so excited to be back at Swift Creek this year!  I am a passionate teacher ready to watch all of our students grow and shine together. I strive to make my classroom feel like family, where students can be themselves and feel their best each day! My top character strengths are prudence and honesty. Outside of school, I love cheering on the Wolfpack and spending time with family. I cannot wait for all this year has in store!

Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala - Bachelor Degree in Secondary Education

I was born and raised in Guatemala, I have been living in NC for the past 5 years. 4 of them I’ve been working in Swift Creek, I’m married to my husband Mario and we have 2 daughters and one dog.

It doesn’t matter which way I took, I ended up in the same one, education field.

I have had several job opportunities; and they are always related to education at different levels and languages (Spanish and/or English) There’s no doubt  this is my passion.

When it comes to my students, I really feel identified with this quote by Maya Angelou: “Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud.”
