I am Robin Goins and I am the DD Preschool teacher here at Kingswood. I have been teaching at Kingswood for 10 years, but this is my 23rd year teaching special education. I graduated from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) with my undergraduate degree is Special Education and later received my master’s in Special Education with a focus on Autism Studies for Portland State University.
I am the proud mom of a spirited daughter who is going into 7th grade and dreams of being a Broadway actor or preschool teacher someday! In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, singing along to musicals with my daughter, arts and crafts and traveling (especially the beach). I was raised in Florida but have lived in South Carolina and Oregon before finding my home in North Carolina😊
When I was in high school I volunteered in a classroom for children with special needs and from then on I knew that teaching kids with different learning styles was what I was meant to do! Over the years I have had the honor of working with many amazing teaching assistants and therapists. Working with a team to create a classroom that supports and celebrates all kids, no matter their level of need, is my true passion and I can’t wait to have your child be part of our next adventure!
DD Pre-K Instructional Assistants
Hello! My name is Candace Attwood, and this is my second year as a DD-PreK instructional assistant here at Kingswood! I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2011. I am originally from Washington State, and initially moved to North Carolina in 2017 to work for the Autism Society of North Carolina's Camp Royall. In 2018, I also completed the Outdoor Educator Semester through the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in Lander, Wyoming. Some interesting facts about me: I am the middle child of five; I play the trombone; I ran track and cross country through college; and I've studied abroad in Japan. When I'm not here at Kingswood, you could find me hiking and backpacking, reading a good book, listening to interesting podcasts, cooking (and eating!) some tasty food, and delving into a research rabbit hole.
This is my 9th year at Kingswood. I began in the ECS class and currently in special programs Pre-K DD. I have a B.A. degree in Sociology from Shaw University.

ECS l Instructional Assistants
This is my first year at Kingswood and I'm very excited to be working in the ECS1 program. I have been a teacher's assistant for 6 plus years and prior to that was a substitute teacher for WCPSS. I graduated from LA. Tech with an education degree and have taught at the middle and high school levels before moving to North Carolina in 2004. My husband, Jerry and I have 3 daughters who all graduated from WCPSS. I enjoy going to concerts, attending the Durham Bulls baseball games, eating Mexican and Cajun food and music cruises. I also love making these awesome gift baskets which shows off my creative side. I think I enjoy shopping for the items more than anything.
ECS II Mr. Matthew Nance
This is my 5th year at Kingswood Elementary, and my 8th year in a special education classroom. When I am not in my classroom I am spending time with my wonderful wife Kristin, and three amazing kids: Finley (5), Violet (4), and Mazie (6 months).
