Senior Dues
September 17th, 2025
Class of 2026 Seniors & Parents/Guardians:
Congratulations on reaching this tremendous milestone – your senior year! With your senior year, come several expenses of which you may not be aware. The purpose of this letter is to explain the two expenses that all seniors encounter so that you can begin preparing for this year.
The first expense is senior dues. Senior dues help pay expenses for senior activities associated with graduation and the senior awards ceremony.
For students graduating in January (mid-year graduates), senior dues are $30 and can only be paid online.
For students graduating in June, senior dues are $60 and can only be paid online.
All payments must be made via the SchoolCash online portal which can be accessed on the East Wake Magnet High School website.
The senior dues pay for diplomas, diploma covers, floral arrangements for the January graduation ceremony, senior awards day, and graduation, graduation regalia for staff and local dignitaries, graduation tickets, awards for the senior ceremony, graduation programs, senior awards ceremony programs. Any funds left over after graduation expenses are paid are used to purchase a gift from the senior class to the school, such as the 2016 benches in the carpool area. These benches were chosen by the Class of 2016 Student Council officers.
The second expense that seniors will face is the purchase of a cap and gown unit. This is separate from the senior dues. The price of the cap and gown unit will not be known until the presentation by Herff Jones on October 14th. The cost of the cap and gown has typically been about $60. For seniors graduating in January (mid-year graduates), this order MUST be placed on order day in November. While there are many other items that can be ordered through Herff Jones, the cap and gown unit from Herff Jones only, is mandatory for participation in the graduation ceremony.
Please do not hesitate to contact any of us with questions about graduation. If we do not know the answer, we will find it out and get back in touch with you. Again, congratulations! Let’s have a fantastic year!
Sincerely,
Jamie Diaz
Graduation Coordinator
