Mr. Corey's Weekly Message - 9/6/24
Dear Conn Magnet Elementary School Families,
Thank you families for trusting us with your precious ones. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them and welcoming them back to campus.
Our kindergartners had a successful first day back and are settling into their classrooms, routines and procedures. Our CONNmunity is complete.
Families, as we continue to launch our year of academic learning, here are a few reminders that I ask of you:
-
Parents/Guardians must bring an ID to check students in and out of school.
-
Families are encouraged to maintain a regular transportation method for morning and afternoon drop off in order to assist with an efficient dismissal process.
-
Please read and attend to communication sent home from the school.
-
Please know that I have instructed staff to use Talking Points with caution during the instructional day because they are to be with students. Parents, if you have a message that needs to get to a teacher that is urgent/time sensitive, it’s best to either: call the school and leave a message for your child with the receptionist, write a message in your student’s folder, and/or send the teacher an email. A Talking Points message should not be the first option if you need an immediate response back as teachers will need to be focused on instructing and supervising students.
-
Please know that I have instructed the staff to avoid communicating concerning or negative information to parents via Talking Points and instead contact the parent via phone.
-
Parents, I am asking you to please also refrain from venting or sharing frustrating messages to staff via Talking Points, in order to prevent miscommunication and/or misinterpretation of tone. If there is an issue of concern, setting up a time to speak via phone or a parent conference is best practice because it gives opportunity for both parties to communicate, share meaning, and come to an understanding before making a plan/path forward.
-
Parents, if you have a concern with anything occurring in the classroom, please make sure you have spoken with the teacher in order to get a balanced view of the events happening in the classroom, prior to requesting to speak with administration.
Conn Magnet Elementary School of Entrepreneurial Design’s Fall 2024 Curriculum Night & General PTA Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 26th, 4:30 pm-6:16 pm “Let’s Illuminate Connections for Alignment” together.
