Principal Message (12/12/21)
Message from Summers
As we close out the year 2021, the GLHS Faculty and Staff family send wishes of warmth, joy, and tranquility this holiday season. In a year filled with trials, tribulations, and uncertainties, we are truly grateful for your support. We are sending wishes to every gator family for happiness and health in 2022.
Students voted and we are excited to put a little pep in the pep as we head into the Winter Break. All students and staff are encouraged to participate. We will have a participation contest between each grade level.

PTSA Emergency Care Kits
PTSA is creating 8 “emergency care kits” for our Green Level High School counselors to keep on hand to give students who find themselves in need at any time. Please consider helping us by donating if you can, and by sharing this information. Items can be dropped off at the school front entry or mailed to 7717 Jenks Road, Apex NC 27523. Items needed… hygiene items, food staples, grocery store gift cards, and new socks. Thank you for supporting us help serve the youth in our community. These teens are amazing and often have struggles we never even realized!
Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS)
WCPSS is participating in the 2021 implementation of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) between now and January 14, 2022. As in past years, most WCPSS middle and high schools have random classrooms selected from second-period classes to participate. WCPSS is collaborating with the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, ICF International, and Wake County Health and Human Services (WCHHS) to administer the survey. We have three 2nd period courses that were selected (approximately 100 students). Consent forms for those impacted will be sent home last week and must be returned Monday, December 13th. If you have additional questions, please contact Ms. Roberts, Dean of Students at firstname.lastname@example.org.

As final exams are just around the corner, EOC and CTE assessments can only occur on devices managed by WCPSS. If you are scheduled to take an EOC or CTE exam, please be sure that you bring your charged Wake County school-issued Chromebook. You will not be able to test on a personal device.
To prepare accordingly, we need all students (one survey per student) to complete the survey on the testing schedule. The testing schedule can be accessed HERE.
If you are a virtual student, you are expected to take your EOC/CTE exams at your base school. Please complete this survey HERE so that we can accommodate your transportation needs.
Last week, we shared with you that buses would run at 12:45 during exam week. Regretfully, we need to change this back to the original dismissal time of 2:18 pm. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have on plans made. We hope with this much notice, students can make alternate plans.
