Career & Technical Education
Career and Technical Education (CTE) is an integral part of the comprehensive secondary schools program in Wake County. The mission of CTE is to provide offerings which meet student needs, interests, abilities, and aspirations; and respond to actual or anticipated opportunities for employment, advanced education, and practical life application.
Green Level High School follows the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for English/Language Arts, which utilizes Common Core standards for Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language. Our goal is to empower students to become intellectual investigators, critical thinkers, and effective communicators who are prepared for college, career, and active citizenship in a dynamic global community.
English students at Green Level will explore the universal concepts of Home and Family, Identity and Culture, Conformity and Rebellion, and Tradition and Progress from four unique perspectives. Ninth graders will work from a personal lens, exploring each topic as it relates to them as individuals. Tenth graders will explore the same topics from a global perspective. Eleventh graders will examine the way that historical, legal, and institutional forces have shaped our understanding of each topic, and twelfth graders will re-examine each topic from a psychological lens.
High school students must earn four core English credits in order to graduate: English I, English II, English III, and English IV.
In the Green Level English Department, we value the diversity of our school community and seek to reflect it in our curriculum design. We are committed to providing challenging, engaging, and student-centered instruction and to the use of equitable policies and practices in our classrooms. Fine & Performing Arts
Vision: In today's globally competitive world, innovative thinking and creativity are essential for all school children. High quality, standards-based instruction in the arts develops these skills and effectively engages, retains, and prepares future-ready students for graduation and success in an entrepreneurial economy. Dance, music, theatre arts, and visual arts, taught by licensed arts educators and integrated throughout the curriculum, are critical to North Carolina's 21st century education.

The Healthful Living Education program promotes behaviors that contribute to a healthful lifestyle and improved quality of life for all students. The Healthful Living Education curriculum supports and reinforces the goals and objectives of its two major components – health and physical education.
As a critical element of the school's structures to support all students, members of our Intervention department work collaboratively with different students and staff to implement evidence-based interventions and supports to meet student’s academic and behavioral needs.
One tool that we utilize to support students through our intervention systems is GradPoint, which is an online academic recovery program for students to access core instruction with which they were not successful the first or second time in a traditional or face-to-face setting. The Science Department at Green Level High School strives to increase students’ scientific literacy and empower them with the communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills necessary to creatively navigate an ever-changing world. Students must complete three science courses for graduation: Biology (Academic or Honors), Earth/Environmental Science (Academic, Honors, or AP), and a physical science course (Physical Science, Chemistry (Academic or Honors), or Physics (Academic, Honors, or AP)).
The mission of the Social Studies Department at Green Level is to create an equitable, culturally responsive environment to foster forward growth in our students. Collaboration and choice will be a main focus as the department strengthens creative and critical thinking skills in all students. The courses offered within the Social Studies department support and expand upon the Wake County Vision. It is the goal of the Social Studies department to have students ready for productive citizenship in an interconnected world.

The ability to communicate with others is central to human nature. Throughout the ages, humans have been able to share information, interests, needs, and values over time and space and, thus, have influenced others by their actions and their words. In recent years, technology tools have brought the world closer and have erased many of the existing borders. As boundaries between countries are dissolving, the need for learning world languages has become a necessary component for linking with the rest of the world and for producing an enlightened citizenship able to function in today's global marketplace.
The high school graduation requirements follow the University of North Carolina (UNC) System minimum admission requirements which are "two credits in the same second language or demonstration of proficiency in a language other than English as determined by the local educational agency (LEA)."
