Principal Message (2/3/21)

Summers Update

Thank you so much for your well wishes regarding my upcoming surgery.  Regretfully, COVID has impacted my family and my surgery is postponed.  Good news- this means that Sunday messages will not be put on pause.

Meet the Teacher

"Meet the Teacher" is scheduled from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm today.  To ensure our meetings are secure, I sent you a School Message with a link to the meetings.   If you need assistance accessing any of your son/daughter’s classes, teachers, or videos, we will post a live help link on the front page of our school's website from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Due to security, be aware that we may parent verification questions.

If you are not able to attend, we post teacher videos on our website.

Reopening Schools

The Wake County Board of Education approved a plan Tuesday evening calling for students not enrolled in the Virtual Academy to begin returning to schools the week of February 15. For more information, please use this link HERE ( https://www.wcpss.net/Page/47559). We will give you additional information on Sunday’s message about what this means for GLHS. In the meantime, the plan calls for the following:

  • Pre-K through third grade: Daily in-person instruction
  • Grades 4 and 5: Three-week rotations
  • Middle and High School: Three-week rotations
  • Special Education Regional Programs, K-12: Daily in-person instruction

ACT Information

All juniors are required to take the ACT on February 23, 2021, at Green Level High School. Juniors should have received an email from Ms. Hailey, our Testing Coordinator, about the ACT.  Students who are scheduled to take the ACT as part of the statewide administration may apply for a test exception if they took the ACT prior to February 5, 2021, and have scores that meet the college readiness benchmark standards outlined below. Students who qualify for this exception will not be expected to participate in the test administration, however; it is the student’s responsibility to notify Ms. Hailey (khailey@wcpss.net) that they do not wish to participate in the test administration and provide a copy of the score reports no later than 10 am on February 5, 2021.
