NJHS is a service club for 8th-grade students celebrating scholarship, citizenship, character, service, and leadership for students at Moore Square GT/AIG Basics Magnet Middle School. This club is academic and application-based. The members complete in-school and out-of-school service opportunities while engaging in leadership development. Students become eligible for induction and are invited into the Chapter at the end of seventh grade if they have an overall average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher, receive a positive teacher recommendation, and are approved by the Faculty Council. Members have already been selected for the 2022-23 school year.
Fundraisers:Throughout the academic calendar, members of the National Junior Honor Society will be expected to participate in several fundraisers. Fundraisers are a vital part of our organization, profits from the sale of fundraising items are used to help pay for membership into the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), student dues, induction materials, and supplies for our group service projects.Group Service Projects:
From stuffing the bus to collecting canned food for local food shelters, members of the National Junior Honor Society will participate in a wide variety of Group Service Projects. In order to participate in all Group Service Projects, members of NJHS are required to get permission from teachers in any class they will miss. Without permission, students will not be allowed to participate in the Group Service Project.Individual Service Hours:
Members of the National Junior Honor Society are expected to complete twenty service hours by the end of each school year. Members are required to have a letter from an adult sponsor verifying their participation in the activity. The adult sponsor may write a personalized letter or may use the form (files and forms). Additionally, students must keep track of their hours using the Service Hours Documentation form.(updated 9/7/2022)
