I have taught at York Elementary for over 20+ years.  I have a Bachelors of Music degree from Trenton State College and a Masters of Music degree from UNC-Greensboro.

I get the opportunity to see all students in the building for music class each week.  I enjoy greeting the children in the morning downstairs with my puppets to help start the morning off on a positive note.  Students also know me because I announce the numbers for carpool each afternoon.  I have a 4th and 5th Grade chorus group that meets on Mondays and Thursdays in the fall to prepare for a winter concert and then on Thursdays in the spring to prepare for the Raleigh Fine Arts Choral Celebration.

Coach Scott here! I grew up in Raleigh and am proud to call Raleigh my home.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University and began teaching in Wake County in 2007. After 5 years of teaching in the classroom, I joined the York bulldog family as a staff member and the PE Coach in 2012.  In my free time, I enjoy watching Liverpool Football Club and the Boston Red Sox, running, being a dad, and traveling with my wife.

Eliza Hearn, Art

Hello, my name is Eliza Hearn and I'm delighted to teach art at York Elementary!

A Raleigh native, I actually attended York for three years as a child. I have a degree in Art Education from Meredith College and a degree in Cultural Anthropology from UNC-Chapel Hill.

One of my passions is learning about cultures (and art traditions) from around the world. I love to travel and experience how people live around the world. This will be my 11th year teaching elementary art education in Wake County. In my free time, along with creating art, I enjoy swimming, taking nature walks, studying nutrition/wellness, and you will often find me hanging out in natural food stores!

I enjoy offering students creative experiences that free the imagination, encourage self-discovery, and inspire continual lifelong learning. Helping students make connections within themselves, to the community, and world around them is one of my greatest joys. I'm looking forward to a memorable school year with all students and staff!
