Jessie Berreth, School Counselor

The 2025-2026 school year marks my ninth year as a public school counselor and my second year at Kingswood Montessori/STEM Magnet Elementary. I deeply value magnet schools for the unique student opportunities they offer, the passionate educators they attract, and the engaged families who make up their communities. I seek to deliver a school counseling program based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model which uses data, state and national standards, stakeholder input, and continual program assessment to serve ALL students in the Social/Emotional, Academic, and College & Career domains. I am a proud product of the Wake County Public School System, having attended elementary, middle, and graduating from high school in Raleigh, NC, before attending Queens University of Charlotte to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and NC State University to obtain a Master of Education in Counselor Education. I live in Cary with my husband, our baby boy (born September 2024), and two tabby cats. In my leisure time, I love gardening, exploring new places, trying new restaurants, and staying active. I look forward to building lasting relationships with students and families in the Kingswood Family this year and in the years to come!

Bobbi Hjelmhaug, School Social Worker

This is my fourth year with Wake County Public Schools and my first year serving the students and families of Kingswood Elementary. As your school social worker, my role is to connect students and families with resources and supports that strengthen academic success and social-emotional well-being. I strive to be a bridge between home, school, and community, working to remove barriers so every child has the opportunity to thrive. I truly enjoy getting to know my students and supporting them as they grow—both socially and academically.

A little about me: I was born and raised in Rochester, NY.  After completing my Social Work Masters degree at the State University of NY at Buffalo five years ago, my family relocated to North Carolina. We love it here and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three children, playing with our dog Max, gardening, and soaking up sunny days.
I’ve already heard wonderful things about Kingswood’s amazing students and families, and I’m so excited to get to know you all this year!
