The Wake County Public School System partners with Jordan Driving School to offer driver education for eligible students.
To complete the program, you must:
- Complete 30 hours of classroom instruction.
- Complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
Most students finish within 6 months, but timelines vary by school.
There are no academic requirements to enroll in driver education. However, students must meet academic standards to apply for a permit or license after the course.
Registration steps
- You must be at least 14½ years old on the first day of class.
- Visit jordandriving.com to view available dates and register.
- After you are assigned to a class, you will get instructions to pay the $65 fee to finalize registration.
- Classes are offered:

- On Saturdays
- During school breaks
- In the summer
Important: Students dismissed due to behavior or attendance may not enroll again through WCPSS.
Driver Ed Updates

Summer 2025 registration will open on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 at 11 am on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students must be at least 14.5 years old on or before the first day of class to register. Once the classes are full, the site will no longer allow you to register online. Each class has 35 seats.
The driver education registration website is https://www.wake.jordandrivered.com/. The 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction will occur approximately 5 months after the Driver Education class ends.
