  • Hats off to a new year! Service learning project sponsored by NJHS

    Moore Square MS is partnering with Oak City Cares to collect new and gently used hats, gloves, jackets, and blankets for people experiencing homelessness!

    This collection will take place from January 23rd-27th in the main lobby during morning arrival time.

  • Basketball at Ligon

    There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, November 16th in the Ligon Gym from 2:30-3:30. Students may take the bus from Moore Square to Ligon at 2:15, but must be picked up at Ligon at 3:30.  Anyone who cannot attend the meeting should contact Coach Scheck to make sure they are eligible to try out.

    Tryouts will be by grade level as follows:

      • 7th Grade Boys & Girls on Thursday, November 17th from 2:30-4:30

      • 8th Grade Boys & Girls on Friday, November 18th from 2:30-4:30

Every student trying out will have to have a current physical on file and all the paperwork completed to try out.     Winter sports tryouts, boys and girls basketball, will start on November 15th. Every student trying out will have to have a current physical on file and all the paperwork completed to try out. If your child tried out for a fall sport, then they will not need a new physical unless it is expired. Only students who have current physicals turned into Mr. Scheck will be allowed to ride the bus from Moore Square to Ligon.   • Alexander YMCA Scholastic Support Center

    YMCA Scholastic Support Centers are a place where your K –8 students can go to participate in their online school or Virtual Academy classes. The program is offered either Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with an extended day option for those who need full-day care, or as a full-day program from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Each center is staffed by YMCA Program Directors, counselors and education specialists who are trained to assist your child with their remote learning and schoolwork. Their spaces are designed to comply with state and local guidelines for safety and social distancing. Please visit their website or email Austin.Howe@YMCATriangle.org for more information.

  • All SSA testing for Plan C will take place online:

    This plan will apply to all school calendar types. 2019-2020 Test Requests already collected will still be valid and these students will be tested in the fall of 2020. Families also have the option to request SSA testing within the 1st ten-days of the 2020-2021 school. All students whose parents requested Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) will be assessed online within the first 30 days of remote learning. Testing will occur between the 11th & the 30th day of school. Students meeting the scoring qualification will be placed in the accelerated course no later than the 7th week of school.
