Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DO WE ACCESS CONSULTATION SERVICE?
In preschools and childcare centers, a teacher may call Project Enlightenment and ask for a Request for Consultation form. Both the parent and teacher sign and complete the form and return it to Project Enlightenment. A consultant will contact the school to plan an in-person observation.
A Virtual Consultation Service is currently available for Preschools and Child Care Centers in Wake County when preschools and centers do not allow visitors due to health policies or WCPSS restrictions.
Please note for students in preschool or childcare, referrals received after May 1st will be scheduled based on the availability (due to the current waiting list) of the Teacher Parent Consultant. If waiting lists are long, TPC services may be transferred to another available TPC or consultation services may be delayed until the beginning of the next traditional school year.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE OBSERVATION?
In the preschool/childcare setting, a consultant will contact the child’s teacher and schedule a day and time to observe in the classroom. Following the observation, the consultant will meet with the child’s teacher and parent(s) to develop strategies that will best support the child in the classroom so that she or he experiences success.
