Good evening, Trojans. This is Principal Matthew Price with the first edition of your weekly announcements for the 25-26 school year. For those of you who are new to Garner, I send these messages out on Monday evenings throughout the school year to help keep everyone aware of what’s going on at school. There is also an email version of each message, and archived Monday Messages can be found on the school website.

Freshman orientation will be held on August 14th for parents and incoming freshman students. The main presentation will begin promptly at 9 am in the auditorium.  Please see our GMHS website for details and to register.

Open House for all students will be on August 21st from 6:00-7:30. Students and families will be allowed to meet the teachers and walk their schedules during this time. There will also be information about clubs, activities, and PTA/Booster club membership during this time. Open House will take place on a drop-in basis, so feel free to come when you can between the hours of 6:00-7:30.

A schedule change form has been posted on the GMHS Website. Please email Ms. Valcheff if you have any questions. Students will be allowed to request schedule changes from August 1st - August 8th prior to the start of school. Please read the directions in the Schedule Change Form for directions on any schedule changes after the August 8th date. Families can view current transportation details, such as route numbers and stop locations, in their Campus Parent account on Infinite Campus.  Bus routes are no longer posted online.   Parents will receive 2025–26 bus route information on August 15, 2025. If your student is assigned to a bus but does not ride regularly, please submit a decline transportation form.

We’re excited to share that Garner has been added to the Universal Free Breakfast Program for the 2025-26 school year! All students attending Garner will be able to enjoy a free, nutritious breakfast every school day with no benefits application required. Families will still need to complete a free and reduced lunch application for lunch, however. This can be done by visiting http://www.myschoolapps.com/. Each year, schools are re-evaluated for participation in the program based on updated data from the Free and Reduced-Price Meals program, as required by federal guidelines. We know that a healthy breakfast sets the tone for a successful day of learning, focus, and energy. Encourage your student to stop by the cafe each morning to fuel up! If you have any questions, contact Child Nutrition Services at 919-856-2918 or cnscustomerservice@wcpss.net

These are all the announcements that I have for this week. I trust that everyone is enjoying their last few weeks of summer. GO TROJANS!

Good evening, Trojans. This is principal Matthew Price with your weekly announcements.

Thursday will be our last 8-period day. We are really getting down to the wire, so please make sure that you begin checking today about missing work that can be turned in on Thursday.

Monday is a holiday. We will return to school next Tuesday for exam review week. Exams will begin the following week (June 2). Please see the GMHS website for the exam schedule.

Senior parents: We have heard of several plans for “senior pranks” that may be upcoming these final two weeks. Please be reminded that anything which is distracting or disruptive to the school environment, especially as students prepare for end-of-year and final exams, will be met with likely suspension from school and will jeopardize seniors’ ability to participate in senior events, including graduation. I encourage each of you to finish up school with the appropriate decorum. Seniors, you know better. Make sure you do better.

Seniors must return all library books and chrome books to the media center by June 10th in order to receive tickets to graduation.

All underclassmen are encouraged to return any library books they have checked out by June 2nd.

All students need to update their chromebooks to ChromeOS 133 or higher.  School devices checked out to teachers need to be updated too.  This needs to be done before testing begins, not on the day of testing.

The Chorus Department's Pops Concert is Wednesday, May 21st. Enjoy our final performance of the year featuring all four choirs and honoring the Singing Seniors of 2025! The concert begins at 7pm, tickets are $5.00.

Yearbook Pick-up will start on May 21 until May 30 at the concession stand during lunches. Yearbooks may be purchased on the day of with cash or check while supplies last.

Parents, if you ordered Graduation signs from our PTSA and have not received them yet, please have your student stop by the front office after school for pick up.

These are all the announcements that I have for this week. I hope everyone had a great weekend, and GO TROJANS!
