    Tuesday Memo – Good evening Garner Nation; this is Principal Carter Hillman with a Tuesday Memo:

    • All information provided in this Memo is posted on the GMHS website under the “Principal’s Message.”
    • Attention Senior parents: The State of North Carolina requires a booster dose of the Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) for all seniors.  It is a North Carolina State requirement that all Seniors have received the MCV booster to remain in school, in person or virtual.  Please take this seriously, as, based on NC State law, should we not receive this information by Monday, November 1st, your student will be removed from his/her classes. If your child is up to date with this booster, you can fax the updated record to 919-589-6656 or email it to sstone2@wcpss.net.
    • Students:  Catch the “early bird special.”  By a yearbook for $55.00 at yearbookforever.com.  Also, senior parents, yearbook senior ads are now for sale.  Go to yearbookforever.com to purchase and create your ad for your senior.
    • Seniors: Senior Portrait makeup day will be tomorrow Wednesday, October 13th in the media center.  During this session, seniors will take their drapes and casual photos.  This is the only makeup day.  Please remember, all senior photos must go through Prestige portraits for the yearbook, so please plan accordingly. For questions, please contact Mrs. Easton.
    • Underclassmen Picture Retakes will be next Tuesday, October 19th in the small gym.  Picture day schedules will be posted in the main lobby this week.  Any further questions can be directed to Mrs. Easton.
    • The GMHS Fine Arts Department is proud to announce the dates for its Fall Play, Miss Holmes, which runs from next Thursday, October 21st through Saturday, October 23rd, starting at 7:00 PM each night.  Tickets are on sale this week on Thursday and Friday and next week on Monday and Tuesday, during all lunches.  Tickets can be purchased in person or at the show for $7.00 cash or check or purchased online.  Checks should be payable to the GMHS Drama Boosters.  Masks are required for the event.  Seating will be general admission with social distancing.  Don’t miss the Drama Department’s first live performance since 2019.
    • Seniors: All senior quotes are due by Friday, October 29th.  Students can find the form in the main lobby or on their teacher’s learning platforms.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Easton.

    • Senior Parents: Does the College and Financial Aid process seem overwhelming for you or your family?  Good News! – GMHS will be hosting a College and Financial Aid Night this Wednesday, October 6th from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the GMHS Auditorium.  Please see the GMHS website, Student Service Twitter Account, or contact our College Advisor for more information.
    • Students and parents: This week is Homecoming Week at GMHS.  There are daily activities that are posted on the GMHS website and around the hallways of the school.  The Homecoming Pep Rally, Parade, Court Crowning, and football game against Southeast Raleigh are all on Friday, October 8th.
    • There is no school for students on Monday, October 11th due to a Teacher Workday.

    • Students and Parent: Student IDs will be made prior to first period in the main lobby near the cafeteria.  All students who do not have a GMHS ID need to have one made.  The cost is $5.00; please bring the exact amount.
    • Students and Parents: BETA Club invitations were sent electronically to students through their school emails last Thursday and Friday.  Students in grades 10-12 with a minimum weighted GPA of 3.5 should have received the invitation and should check their emails.  Those who believe that they meet the GPA requirement but did not receive an invitation, especially students new to GMHS, should contact Mrs. Norris or Ms. Marsh.  The deadline for returning applications is next Monday, October 4th at 11:59 PM.  No late digital forms or dues will be accepted after the deadline.

    • Juniors and Seniors: Jostens will be on campus tomorrow, Tuesday, September 21st during lunches to take class ring orders for Juniors (the minimum deposit required is $75.00) and to take senior orders for cap, tassel, gowns and graduation announcements, and any other senior products (the minimum deposit is $60.00).  You can also place your order online at Jostens.com.
    • Attention Parents:  Tomorrow evening, September 21st, from 5:50 to 8:00 PM, GMHS will host a virtual Open House event.  You will be able to run through your student’s A/B day schedule, with 15 minutes allotted to each class.  At 5:50 PM you will be provided the opportunity to view the Principal’s message for the evening.  A-day classes will be as follows: 1A at 6:00; 2A at 6:15; 3A at 6:30; and 4A at 6:45. B-day classes will be as follows: 1B at 7:00; 2B at 7:15; 3B at 7:30; and 4B at 7:45.  All Google meet information will be provided through teachers' learning platforms.  Please have your student check this information for you so you are prepared for tomorrow evening.
