    • Attention parents: Coffee with counselors is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Tuesday, November 26th, starting at 7:45 AM in the Media Center.
    • Seniors - Scholarship information can be found on the GMHS website under students - college planning.  Many scholarships will go to GMHS seniors, so you are encouraged to check this page weekly.  All scholarship information is posted on this page.
    • There will be no school this Wednesday, November 27th through Friday, November 29th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.  School will be closed for students and staff.  Students will return to school next Monday, December 2nd. It is a “B-day.”
    • The Garner Trojan Football team will take on the Leesville Pride on Friday night, November 29th, in the third round of 4AA State Playoffs.  The game is at Leesville HIgh School and will start at 7:30 PM.  Cost of tickets is $8.00.  No Trojan or teacher passes are accepted for state playoff games.

    • Workshops for the GMHS spring musical, Carousel, will occur this Tuesday and Thursday, November 19th and 21st.  These workshops are required if you intend on auditioning.  Please meet in the auditorium at 2:30 PM on Tuesday.  Workshops will last no later than 3:30 PM.  You must attend both days.  See Mrs. Hazelrigg or Mr. Wanamaker with questions or if you cannot attend the workshops.  Tech Crew applications for the musical will be available in the auditorium this Thursday, November 21st and are due back by Wednesday, December 4th. 
    • The Trojan Business Alliance is hosting its Annual Reality of Money event for 10th grade students this Tuesday, November 19th in the auxiliary gym.
    • The Garner Magnet Theme Showcase event will take place this Thursday, November 21st, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.  Those participating should use the front entrance to the school.
    • The National Achievers Society Induction Ceremony is scheduled this Friday, November 22nd, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM in the auditorium.

    Tuesday Memo 11-12-2019 – Good evening Garner Nation; this is Principal Carter Hillman with a Tuesday Memo:

     

    • The GMHS Fine Arts Department is proud to announces the Fall Play, William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Patron night will be this Wednesday, November 13th.  Public performances will be this Thursday, November 14th through Saturday, November 16th.  The play begins at 7:00 PM in the auditorium.  Cost of admission is $7.00 per ticket.  Please note on Friday, November 15th, there is a home football playoff game.  It is recommended that those coming to the play park in the staff parking lot located by the school cafeteria.  That entrance will be opened.
    • The Garner Community Stars on Stage Event is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13th, at South Garner auditorium, starting at 6:30 PM.  This event bring together the talents of all Garner schools.  It's a great evening of music and entertainment.
    • All Senior casual and formal portrait proofs must be selected for the yearbook by this Thursday, November 14th or the computer will randomly select it.  If you have difficulty selecting proofs on Prestige Portraits website, students can stop by Mrs. Easton’s classroom, Room 3110, before or after school to make their selections.
    • Career Services will be hosting an information session for parents and students to learn more about the NC Triangle Apprenticeship Program this Thursday, November 14 at 9:15 AM at GMHS in Room 1301.  This program provides students with the opportunity to gain work experience and college degree.  If your student likes to work with their hands, then this program may be for them.  Parents and Students are encouraged to attend. 
    • The Garner Trojan Football team will host a first round State playoff game this Friday, November 15th, against Wakefield.  Game time is 7:30 PM and the cost of admissions is $8.00.  No Garner passes or teacher passes will be accepted for State playoff games.

    • The Senior Class group picture will be this Friday, November 8th, at the end of first period.  Students will be dismissed from their first period class and go to the main gym.  If students have a senior shirt, they should wear it on Friday, or should wear a black shirt for the photo if possible.
    • There will be no school on Monday, November 11th, due to the Veteran’s Day Holiday.  School will be closed for students and staff.

    • Freshmen Parents and Students: Freshmen will be receiving the Signs of Suicide (SOS) curriculum in Healthful Living classes this week through Wednesday, October 30th.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Creecy in Student Services.
    • This past weekend the GMHS Marching Band competed in their last competition of the season at Corinth Holders High School.  21 Bands competed overall with 6 bands competing in the 2A category.  In 2A your Mighty Marching Trojans took 1st place in Visual Performance, 3rd Place in General Effect, and 2nd Place overall.  Congratulations to the Mighty Marching Trojans on a successful season.
    • The BETA Club Induction Ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29th, starting at 7:00 PM in the auditorium.
    • Sophomores and Sophomore Parents:  All 10th grade students will take the state-mandated PreACT this Wednesday, October 30th.  Students with IEPs or 504 plans will have received a letter last week that must be signed and returned if the student wishes to use accommodations on this practice exam.  Please contact Ms. Ireland with any questions regarding the PreACT.
    • The GMHS Fine Arts Department is proud to announce its Fall Band Concert this, Wednesday, October 30th, at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. 
    • Thursday, October 31st is a makeup day for earlier inclement weather; it is a regular school day for students and staff.  This day will be an A day on the schedule.
    • Attention students: Those who are planning to dress up on Thursday, October 31st need to keep in mind that outfits must follow the WCPSS Dress Code Policy.  No masks or full-face paint will be allowed on campus.

    • Attention Parents:  For the safety of your students, you are reminded that student drop-off, in the morning, is from the right lane only.  Dropping your students off in the left lane has students walking through traffic.  Both lanes are assessible for pickup in the afternoon.  Thank you for your cooperation.
    • Last Saturday, The Mighty Marching Trojans competed in the Festival of Bands at Fuquay Varina High School with 24 other schools across the state.  The team brought home a 3rd place in Visual Performance. The Mighty Marching Trojans will travel to Corinth Holders this coming Saturday for its final competition of the season.  The best of luck to them.
    • Career Services is trying to connect with all students who are interested in pursuing a career in the trades.  If you child has a desire to work in plumbing, electrical, heating and air, or construction then complete the career interest survey on the Career Services webpage or contact Mrs. Daughenbaugh in Room 1101 to ensure your student participates in an upcoming event to learn about the opportunities available in this industry.
    • The BETA Club will be practicing for its Induction Ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, October 22nd, starting at 2:30 PM in the Auditorium.

    Good evening Trojan Nation!  This is a special message about an upcoming event.

     

    • This Friday night, the Garner Trojans travel to South Garner High School to take on the Titan in the inaugural Varsity Football Game.  That evening South Garner will also be hosting the Greatness of Garner Event, which brings together all WCPSS schools in the Garner area.  The event begins at 5:30 PM.  Come on out early and see what Garner has to offer.  There will be food, games, performances, and many other events prior to the game.  Hope to see you out there.

  • Special Memo | October 15

    Special Memo 10-15-19.  Good evening Garner Nation; this is Principal Carter Hillman with a special issue memo:

    • Today, Tuesday, October 15th, at approximately 11:25 AM, Garner Magnet High School, in conjunction with Wake County Public Schools security officials and Garner police, completed a Code Red lock-down drill.  GMHS is required to complete such drills twice a year for the purpose of practicing the procedures necessary in preparing if such an event should actually occur.  The entire campus was under “Code Red” drill status for approximately 15 minutes.  Upon completion of the drill, the campus returned to Code Green status, which means the school returns to normal function.  We appreciate your student’s cooperation during these drills.  If you have further questions concerning this drill, please contact your student’s school administrator.

    Monday Memo 10-07-2019 – Good evening Garner Nation; this is Principal Carter Hillman with a Monday Memo:

    • Attention junior and senior parents:  Schools are required to release families’ private information to military recruiters unless you “opt out” in writing asking the school not to release your child’s information to the military recruiters.  A military “opt out” form is located on the Career Service webpage.  Please print, complete, and return to Mrs. Daughenbaugh, Room 1101.
    • This past Saturday, the Mighty Marching Trojans completed in the Heart of Carolina Invitational Marching competition at Wakefield High School. They competed in the 1A Category against three other high schools.  The team won second place in Percussion and Visual Performance, first place in Music and General Effect, and they brought home first place, overall, in the Class 1A competions.  Congratualtion to our Mighty Marching Trojans on an outstanding performance.
    • Students:  Career Services would like for all students to complete the Career Interest Survey so you will have the opportunity to receive invitations to participate in activities and field trips that target your career interest.  The survey can be found on the Career Services webpage.
    • Students and Parents: The 2019-20 Homecoming week is scheduled for this week, October 6th through the 11th.  Please go to the GMHS webpage to review the school calendar for the listing of events for the week.
    • The GMHS Fine Arts Department is proud to announce the Improv Troupe Performance tomorrow evening, Tuesday, October 8th, starting at 7:00 PM in the Drama Studio.
