Good evening Trojan Nation, this is Principal Carter Hillman with a message to update you on the GMHS Remote Learning Schedule and other associated issues:

    • Remote Learning will begin on Monday, April 13th. GMHS will use the schedule noted on the GMHS website front page banner.
    • This schedule is posted on the front page of the GMHS website. Teacher’s daily “Office Hours” will be posted in the Staff Directory. Please note, as this week is Spring Break, not all teachers have yet posted their Office Hours. All hours will be posted by next week.
    • For those students and parents waiting to pick up a device and/or internet hotspot to support Remote Learning, GMHS has not yet been contacted by Wake County in order to designate a “pickup” date. Once this date has been determined, those who have requested these items will be notified directly.
    • Last Friday, WCPSS sent out a message to all students and parents concerning grades and grading during this time. If you did not receive this message, please be certain to visit www.wcpss.net for this information. Seniors, it is recommended if you have grading questions to email your alpha guidance counselor.
    • As more information comes available through WCPSS, I will continue to update.  During this time, please keep your families safe.

    • Parents and Students: Over the next week, WCPSS has asked each school to be in contact with our families in order to ensure all students have the access to a device and access to home internet, as it is moving forward in creating Remove Learning for the district.  GMHS needs only families in need of these resources to complete the form provided in the Green Banner located on the front page of the GMHS website. We are asking teachers to reach out to their homeroom students to complete this information.  Should you give this information to a teacher, there is no need to complete the website form as well.  I would ask if you have not heard from your student’s homeroom teacher by Wednesday, April 1st, please go to the GMHS website and complete the form.
    • WCPSS is also asking all teachers to begin making contact with their students in order to prepare for Remote Learning.  These contacts should be general in nature but may include preparation work and/or assignments to prepare students for Remote Learning, starting Monday, April 13th.
    • Spring Break is designated from April 6th through April 10th.  Students are not expected to complete schoolwork during this time, unless determined by the home.
    • If students need their Wake ID Password reset in order to access school email, Google account, etc., please email Amanda Ireland at aireland@wcpss.net.
    • That ends your announcements for this week. Please keep your students safe and have a good evening.   Good-bye.
