GMHS will have a spirit night October 15th from 3-7 at Crumbl Cookie in Garner. (162 Shenstone Blvd) 15% of the proceeds will go to the GMHS PTSA.
Senior Parents, you don't want to miss an opportunity to create a Senior Ad for your child. There is limited space, so purchase now! Ads will be on sale until January 30th. Go to yearbookforever.com to purchase and create! If you have any further questions, please contact Mrs. Easton.
Senior Portrait Makeup Day will be Wednesday, October 8, in the small gym. During this session, seniors will take their drapes and casual photos. This is the only make-up day. Please remember that all senior photos must go through Prestige Portraits for the yearbook, so please plan accordingly. Lastly, students must pick their appointment times by October 7th. Students can find the sign-up form on the school website or their English teacher's Canvas. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Easton.
Underclassmen Picture Retakes will be on Tuesday, October 14, during the first half of the day in the small gym. Picture day schedules will be posted in the main lobby the week before. Any further questions can be directed to Mrs. Easton
Interact Club is sponsoring a Rotary Youth Leadership Weekend. Three students will receive full scholarships for a weekend of workshops and fun. It's a great resume builder. Applications due by Oct. 31st. See Coach Byrd for more information.

First, I’d like to recognize one of our own students who has been nationally recognized for outstanding performance on the PSAT. Congrats to Lily Eads, a senior in our IB Career Program who scored high enough to receive national accolades. Great job, Lily!
The GMHS PTSA presents "Animated Moves & Trojan Grooves" Homecoming Dance 2025! The dance will be on October 4th from 7-10PM in the Main Gym. All GMHS students and approved guests are invited. Semi-formal attire/sneakers or rubber sole shoes only. Light refreshments will be provided. Tickets can be purchased online only. Ticket link & guest form are posted on the school website, and also @gmhs.homecoming.dance Instagram page. Tickets are $35 and will be on sale through October 3rd.

Attention Sophomore Parents: Your student has their first Personal Project meeting this week on either Wednesday, October 1st or Thursday, October 2nd with their supervisors. The best way to support your student with the project is to talk to them about their Learning Goal and Product Goal. They will be sharing their goals and plan of action to achieve these goals at this first meeting.

Honor Roll Breakfast is Friday, September 26th during 1st block for sophomores and juniors and the beginning of 2nd block for seniors. Eligible students earned an 80 or above in all their classes for their final grade during the 2024 - 2025 school year.
This Wednesday will be our first 8-period day of this school year. 8 period days are a chance for students to visit all classes and ensure that their work is complete and all objectives from the past month have been mastered. Students should pay special attention to their grades in Infinite Campus and come to school prepared to address anything that needs work.
Tomorrow is a teacher workday. There will be no school for students. Classes will resume on Wednesday, September 24.
Beginning September 23rd we will be entering all attendance notes (future and prior to 9/23) into our system. We kindly ask for your patience as we work through this process. For your reference, attendance information can be found here: WCPSS Attendance Information Thank you for your understanding and support.
College & Financial night for Juniors, Seniors and their guardians will take place on Thursday, September 25 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the GMHS Auditorium. Come out to ask any questions you may have about College acceptance and financial aid.

Auditions will be held this Wednesday, September 24th, after school in the Auditorium and paperwork must have parent signatures. All are welcome to audition and apply to work backstage on the tech crew. See Mrs. Hazelrigg or the Drama website for more information.
A NCSU Park scholarship information session for Juniors & Seniors will be held in 1303G- Media Center (Mrs. Harris' Room) on Friday, September 26th @ 10:00 AM to learn from a former Morehead Cain scholar who is also a GMHS graduate about the application process and their experiences.
Students can sign up using the QR code posted to the Career Services Canvas page or by contacting Mrs. Harris or Dr. Nelson.
Don't forget that student planners for the 25-26 school year can be purchased on our website through the Online School Payments for $10.00. This student agenda is Garner specific and can be a very useful tool to help your student stay organized and meet deadlines.
Attention Sophomore Parents: We have officially started the Sophomore IB Personal Project. The students will have their first meeting on October 1st and 2nd and will share their learning goals and product goals with their supervisors. Although students have been preparing for this meeting in their English 2 classes, Mrs. Bennett will also host an optional after-school workshop on Wednesday, September 24th from 2:20 to 3:30 in Room 4101 for any students who need extra help with this initial phase of the project. College & Financial night for Juniors, Seniors and their guardians will take place on Thursday, September 25 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the GMHS Auditorium. Come out to ask any questions you may have about college acceptance and financial aid.
A UNC Morehead Cain scholarship information session for Juniors & Seniors will be held in 1303G- Media Center (Mrs. Harris' Room) on Wednesday, September 17th at 11:30 to learn from a Morehead Cain scholar about the application process and their experiences. Students can sign up using the QR code posted to the Career Services Canvas page or by contacting Mrs. Harris or Dr. Nelson.
BETA Club NEW member invites will be sent to qualifying students in grades 10-12 via student emails Monday evening, September 15th.
The BETA Club is our school’s honors club. In order to receive an invitation, students must have a minimum weighted GPA of 3.5. BETA members are expected to be involved in extra-curricular activities and have outstanding character. If you feel as though you did not receive an invitation in error OR if you are new to GMHS and believe you qualify, please see either Mrs. Norris (3005) or Ms. Marsh (4112). Form submissions ARE time sensitive, and NO late forms will be accepted. Students have until Tuesday, September 30th to complete the form and pay the membership fee.
Interact club will be meeting the first Thursday of each month directly after school in room 3205 this year. Come out and get some service hours, make friends, and improve our school and community!
The Writer's Block is a literary magazine featuring art and writing from Garner Magnet High School students. There will be a print edition available this year along with prizes for the best submissions. See Ms. Priest in room 3205 or scan a QR code on one of our posters to submit your plays, short stories, poems, essays, art, photography, and anything else you have created. Let's show Garner how talented the Trojans are!
The Drama Department will present the Student-Directed One Acts this Thursday, September 18th, in the Auditorium at 7:00pm. Tickets are $5. Please come out to support these seniors' directing debuts.

Attention, interested Juniors!
There will be a Governor’s School interest meeting on Thursday, Sept.18 during 3rd block - between the lunches. The meeting will be at 11:15 in the upper-level Media Center. If interested in learning more about Governor’s School, please attend. Come learn about this summer program that focuses on students fulfilling their passion in the Arts and Academic areas through collaboration and leadership development.This opportunity is for Juniors, but sophomores are eligible to apply for a few areas in the Arts curriculum. See Ms. Pettis in Student Services if you have questions.
