• Starting a New Club

At Apex Friendship High, we encourage students to pursue their interests and seek to build connection with others who have a similar interest.  We also work to encourage students to build leadership skills and see clubs as a positive way to do this.

    How to Start a Club

AFHS will open a window for requesting a new club each fall and spring semester.  We utilize specific times of the year to accept new club requests so that we can adequately support student leaders in their efforts.  New club requests in 2025-2026 can be submitted:

    • October 1-15, 2025
    • March 2026

The application for a new club can be accessed at this link.  Applications for new clubs must include:

    • The name of a staff advisor who has agreed to complete those responsibilities.
    • A general sense of how the club will be organized, when it will likely meet, etc.
    • Some evidence that the student leaders have reviewed the current list of clubs and can explain how this club is different from existing clubs.

    A few important notes:

    • Due to their nature, honor societies and co-curricular clubs must be initiated by the faculty members.
    • Club activities must align with core risk management and district best practices.  For example, clubs engaging in work related to mental health must collaborate proactively with trained staff.  Similarly, sports / physical activity are not permitted as a student-initiated clubs.
    • Mr. Poppe, the administrator working to support clubs, will meet with student leaders about each request after the application window closes.

    Questions?

Assistant Principal Doug Poppe is the primary contact for all requests for new clubs (dpoppe@wcpss.net).
