    Chromebook Expectations

Students are expected to bring a WCPSS-Issued Chromebook to school with them each day.

    • Bring a fully-charged device with you to class every single day.
      • They are free to all students.
      • WCPSS Testing Browsers require a WCPSS Chromebook in order to access them.
      • Tech Service Staff are not allowed to repair or assist with students' personal devices.
    • Report any issues to your teacher, media specialist, or WCPSS Student Help Desk as soon as possible.
    • Do not remove your name label or case from the device.
    • Take care of your device and keep it clean.
    • Use your device in accordance with the policies, rules, and expectations of WCPSS and PCHS.

    Bring Your Own Device Policy

There is no longer a Bring-Your-Own-Device policy in place in Wake County.

    • Students are expected to use their Chromebook for classwork, so it can obtain updates distributed by the WCPSS network.
    • If a student is insistent on using a personal device, they must have their Chromebook (charged and ready to use) with them as well.
    • As mentioned above, Tech Service Staff are not allowed to repair or assist with students' personal devices.

    Chromebook Repair

If a student damaged their device, we can repair it or replace it for them.

    • Student devices are under warranty with Wake County; Technicians visit the Media Center regularly to fix hardware and software issues.
    • Students can receive 1 replacement in a 3-year period for screen or water damage without penalty.
    • If there is a 2nd case of screen or water damage, students will be put on as a Day-Use Only user, meaning they will need to pick up and return their device to the Media Center daily.
