  • I'm interested in doing the IB Diploma Programme. What do I need to do to get ready?

Posted by Jon Sherwin on 8/2/2021

Students in grades 11 and 12 may select to participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Beyond intellectual rigor, strong emphasis is placed on the ideals of international understanding, responsible citizenship and service.

To prepare for the IB Diploma Programme, students in grades 9 and 10 should...

    • Take as many honors level classes as they are comfortable with
    • Maintain an unweighted GPA of 3.5 in their core classes
    • Complete the following NC Graduation requirements by the end of grade 10:
      • English I and II
      • NC Math 1, 2 and 3
      • Civic Literacy and Economics & Personal Finance
      • Earth Science and Biology (If a student is interested in taking IB Chemistry or IB Physics at the Higher Level, they should also complete the honors level course of that subject by the end of grade 10)
