Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Marshella Reid, and I teach 4th grade at Yates Mill Elementary School. I am entering my 18th year in education. I have taught grades 2nd – 5th. I spent the last three years as an academic coach. This year, I decided to go back into the classroom to teach my favorite grade (4th). This will be my first year at YMES.
I was born in Germany and raised in Goldsboro. I attended North Carolina Central University for both undergraduate and graduate school. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in math and an M.A. of Education in Elementary Education. In 2009, I received my National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in Early Childhood General Education in which I recently renewed. In 2015 I decided to add another career under my belt and became a realtor. Yes, I currently do both, educate and real estate.
I am the proud mom of a soon to be 3 year old. Blake is very intelligent and keeps me super busy. In my spare time (what little I have), I enjoy finding new adventures to keep Blake engaged, spending time with family and friends, traveling, attending open houses and viewing new construction homes. Besides Blake, food is the way to my heart. I love any kind of seafood, pasta, mushrooms, sushi and chocolate.
Throughout my teaching career, my philosophy that EVERY child can learn has remained the same. I have always set high expectations and provided students a safe and nurturing environment that is conducive for learning. I look forward to having an amazing year at YMES.
