Preparing for the First Day of School:

  • Student/Parent Handbook

Review the 2022-23 WCPSS Student/Parent Handbook to familiarize yourself with rules and expectations in school, on the way to and from school, and at school-sponsored activities.

    WakeID & PowerSchool Access

Students: Prior to the first day of school, make sure you're able to access your WakeID Portal to access your student email, PowerSchool account, Canvas, Google Classroom, and other important platforms.

Parents/Guardians: We strongly encourage parents/guardians to set up their own PowerSchool account, rather than using their child's account to log in. To set up a Parent PowerSchool account, use this link.

If you have any issues setting up your accounts, please click here for more information or send us a message via the Contact Us form.

    Student Chromebooks/Personal Devices

Students are expected to bring a fully charged device to school each day. If you are new to WCPSS and have not yet received your WCPSS Chromebook, it is available for pick-up in the front office.

    Student Schedules

Student schedules can now be viewed in PowerSchool. If you need any assistance seeing your schedule in PowerSchool, please contact us via this link

We have proofed schedules five times. However, we are encouraging all students to review their schedules. Some students may have one of the following issues that may warrant a Course Correction Form:

    • Scheduled for less than four courses
    • Scheduled for multiple courses during the same period
    • Seniors who are missing a graduation requirement
    • Scheduled for a course you have already taken and received credit for
    • Missing a prerequisite course
    • Requesting a level/rigor change, if scheduling allows (ex: English III Honors to English III Academic)

At this time, counselors are not available to discuss potential schedule change requests via email, phone, or in-person. All students will follow their schedule, as it's listed in PowerSchool, on the first day of school. No changes will be made prior to this time. Student Services will be releasing the “Course Correction Form” for 2022-2023 on Tuesday, August 30th. The form will be posted to the school website. Students may also visit Student Services to complete the form. Forms must be completed and received at the Student Services Office by 3:00pm on Friday, September 2nd. Late requests will not be accepted. All forms must have the student and parent/guardian acknowledgment completed to be considered. Students must use their WCPSS email address when completing the form. All course corrections able to be accommodated will be completed and adjustments will be displayed in PowerSchool by September 8th.

    School Breakfast and Lunch

If you are interested in purchasing breakfast and/or lunch at school, please click this link for information. To receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2022-23 school year, families must submit a meal benefits application online at MySchoolApps.com. Paper copies are also available in the front office. For families who completed the 2021-22 meal benefits application, the benefit continues for their student's first 30 school days of the 2022-23 school year. A full-price breakfast will be $1.75 and lunch will be $3.25.

    Transportation

Registered bus riders will be able to view their route information, including stop location and estimated pick-up and drop-off times, in PowerSchool on August 19th. Families should also download the Here Comes the Bus app. It will let you know when your bus will be arriving and if there is a substitute driver. Discuss with your child the importance of appropriate behavior on the bus to help protect everyone in and around the bus. Misbehavior on school buses is subject to disciplinary action. Questions regarding bus transporation should be directed to Mr. Viens, Assistant Principal, at jviens@wcpss.net.

    COVID-19 Guidance

It is important for families to report positive COVID-19 cases to our school. If your child is not feeling well, please have them stay home and get tested. Visit wcpss.net/whentoreturn to learn when to return after a positive diagnosis. If your student has been exposed, they can stay in school as long as they are not experiencing symptoms and have not tested positive for COVID-19. Questions about COVID-19 protocols specific to Green Level should be directed to Mr. Williams, Assistant Principal, at dwilliams7@wcpss.net
