Wake STEM School Supplies
If teachers require specific items for their classes, they will provide this information during the first week of classes.
Wake STEM Early College High School is an application school with recruitment starting in October and ending in November. All of our open houses and information sessions occur during those months.
Students who are selected to attend our school do not have a choice of courses. All of the students in our program take a standard set of courses with the only variables being math or foreign language. Therefore, we build our student’s schedules based on our offerings and graduation requirements. Please see this 5-year plan including courses available at our school for your information.
Students selected to attend our school will not select any courses during the middle school registration period.
If you have any questions, please contact our Dean of Students, Ryan Haymore.
Suggested Website for Self-Study Practice: https://codingbat.com/python
CodingBat is a free site of live coding problems to build coding skills in Python. CodingBat is a project by Nick Parlante, a computer science lecturer at Stanford University.
Going through many practice problems is a great way to solidify your understanding of how the code should work. CodingBat problems work great for beginner self-study practice. The CodingBat problems are designed to have low overhead: short problem statements, nothing to install, immediate feedback in the browser, and there's lots of them to build up your skills. The idea for CodingBat came from Professor Parlante experience teaching CS at Stanford combined with seeing how student's used unit-tests in more advanced courses.
