Ms. Mary McDonough
About: I am incredibly grateful to be part of such a creative, diverse and innovative community of learners at Washington. I love coming to school every day, and advocating for students and families. Prior to becoming a School Counselor, I served for two years in AmeriCorps, was a residential counselor for teenagers, facilitated prevention education classes for kids, led parenting education workshops, and trained volunteers in supervised visitation practices. In 2012, I earned my masters in School Counseling and certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy from Appalachian State. I’m a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and strive to continuously grow in my field. I can’t imagine a more rewarding job than working with the amazing students and staff at Washington. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor sports, cooking and eating with family and friends, reading, traveling, and gardening—I want to be a master gardener someday!
