Academically Gifted Program

  • WCPSS has an extensive Academically and Intellectually Gifted program that is used around the county. The purpose of the AIG program at each school is to challenge students that show a higher level of academic or intellectual abilities in reading and math.

    4th/5th grade FALL AIG Nominations will be accepted between Monday, August 27 - Wednesday, September 25.  
    4th/5th grade SPRING AIG Nominations will be accepted between Thursday, September 26 - Tuesday, November 26.  
    The nomination google form is located on Mrs. Guza's website.  Nominations will be reviewed by the School Based Committee for Gifted Education along with multiple pertinent points of data to decide if testing will be appropriate for the child.  Please email Kim Guza ( for any questions about this process or if you have any issues with accessing the form.

    3rd grade students will all take the CogAt screening test.  This is one of the many points used to determine need of services.  More information about third grade specifically and the third grade Explorers program can be found on the AIG website and will be shared at the 3rd grade Explorers Presentation Meeting (Tuesday, Sept. 26).
