Single Subject Acceleration (SSA)

  • Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course.
For more information, please refer to the SSA information on the WCPSS website.

The window to nominate for SSA testing is open now through March 22nd. Nominations will not be accepted after the end of the school day on March 22nd. Students in Kindergarten - 5th grade can be nominated by parents. Please email Danielle Perry at if you would like to nominate your child for SSA testing.
If you are unsure of how SSA works and would like more information, please join me for an informational google meet on Tuesday, March 9th at 4:30 pm or Thursday, March 11th at 4:30. Please use the following google meet code to join the meeting.
