Posted by Matt Price on 2/12/2024 7:00:00 PM

Good evening, Trojans. This is principal Matthew Price with a few weekly announcements.

Our Black Student Union is holding its annual Black History Month Showcase this Thursday beginning at 6:00 in the auditorium. Please come out and support these students in their efforts.

Parents of Juniors, please check with your student this week to make sure their Chromebook is in working order as they will need it for the ACT test on Feb. 29th. If there is any issue with their Chromebook, your student should submit the "Chromebook/Tech Assistance" form before Friday. A QR code for the form is posted in classrooms. There is also a link to the form on the GMHS website under Students.

Just a Reminder to Senior Parents: Senior Cap and gown photos will be this Wednesday, February 14th in the media center.   There will be no session fee. Cap and Gowns will be provided, please do not bring your own. Cap and gown photos are not mandatory, but those who decide to take photos must sign up for an appointment time by Tuesday, February 13. You will find the link on the GMHS website. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Easton.

Purchase a yearbook @yearbookforever.com  for $75 before it's too late.

Don’t forget that Spring sports tryouts begin this Wednesday after school. Be sure that all of your materials are submitted in Dragonfly in order to be eligible to try out. Information can be found on the Athletics link on the GMHS website.

This Thursday is SRO appreciation day. Please take a moment to thank our two excellent School Resource Officers, Officers Porta and Smith. We thank them for all of their hard work to help us keep GMHS safe.

The GMHS Drama Department is excited to announce its Spring Musical, Disney’s Aida that will hold performances on February 29th and March 1st @7:00pm and March 2nd @2:00pm. Tickets will be $10 for students and $12 for adults. Come out for a night to remember as we follow two star-crossed lovers through Ancient Egypt, with music by Elton John & Tim Rice. Tickets go on sale next week.

The Improv Troupe will have a performance in the Auditorium tomorrow, February 13th, at 7:00pm. Admission is $2. Runtime is approximately one hour and concessions will be available.

This is also a reminder that BIMAS opt-out letters are due this Wednesday to your student’s 1A teacher if you wish to opt out. You can reference my announcement last week via email if you have questions.

Finally, next Monday is a Holiday, and Tuesday is a teacher workday. Students will begin school next week on Wednesday.

I hope you all had a great Super Bowl weekend, and GO TROJANS!
