  • This week’s in-person learning is for Cohort 3 (C).  Next week, March 1st through March 5th is for Cohort 1 (A).  Please review the school calendar on the GMHS website for each cohort’s schedule through the end of the school year.
  • Parents: If you are dropping students off for school via the carpool lane.  Students cannot leave your car until they have passed their daily health screening.  This is a WCPSS expectation.
  • Attention Juniors:  The state of North Carolina will give all juniors the ACT tomorrow, Tuesday, February 23rd.  The ACT must be given in person to all students listed as 11th graders in PowerSchools.  Students have received information, via email, such as room assignments, arrival times, procedures, etc.  Tuesday, February 23rd will an Asynchronous Day to have staff available to assist with testing and provide social distancing standards for all students.  Juniors who are scheduled to test will report to campus on ACT day.  Bus transportation will be provided as well as breakfast and lunch being served.  9th, 10th, and 12th graders DO NOT report to campus tomorrow.  Juniors, please certain to review ACT emails.
  • This Wednesday, February 24th is a county-based Asynchronous Day for students.  There will be no live instruction on this day, but teachers will post assignments to be completed.  Students will be marked present for classes by completing these assignments.
  • As we return to campus, students will need to bring their own devices to use for class each day.  The device should be a laptop or Chromebook.  A tablet with a keyboard will work if no other device is available.  Students who received WCPSS devices must bring those with them every day.  Make sure your devices are fully charged before school begins.  All students need to bring their own headphones or earbuds with them daily.  Inexpensive headphones and earbuds can be purchased at most stores. Including “dollar” stores.  If you have questions or concerns about devices, please contact Ms. Ireland.
GMHS has created a “Student Video” to review GMHS expectations and support a better understanding for how our school will operate under Plan B.   This link can be found on the GMHS homepage by clicking on the Lime Green Banner at the top of the page.  We are asking all students and their families who are assigned to return to school to review this video prior to coming on campus for the first time.
  • Attention Senior Parents: Cap and Gown photos will be next Thursday, March 4th.  Please note that the location has changed and will be in the small gym.  Students will enter and get health screened at the student parking lot entrance.  Please be aware that Cap and Gown photos are not mandatory, but those who decided to participate must pay a $10.00 session fee, and you must schedule a session time.  Find the link via the GMHS website calendar or student email.  Please note that Cap and Gowns will be provided and sanitized with each use.  If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Easton.
  • Attention Juniors and Seniors who like to work with your hands and are seeking opportunities outside of the university:  The NC Triangle Apprenticeship Program may be for you.  NC TAP has added additional information session and virtual tours for those who would still like to explore the program.  Go to the GMHS website, look for the Career Services page to register for an information session and a virtual tour.
  • That ends your announcements for this evening.  Please keep your students safe, continue to keep in communication with your teachers, and have a good evening.
