Principal's Weekly Message, 2-7-25
LRMS Families,
I hope February has started well for each of you. Here are your Weekly Updates:

3. LIONS Madness is Friday, February 21! This will be a charity event and an evening of fun in the LRMS gym. Our Healthful Living Department and LMAC Boosters will be hosting a staff-student basketball game, three-point contest, raffle and other contests! Pizza and snacks will be sold in the cafeteria. Proceeds will go to LMAC and the American Heart Association. We hope to pack the gym and see you there!
4. For current 8th graders going to Leesville Road High School next year, the 9th Grade Open House is next week:

6. Love the Bus Week is Feb. 10-14, an annual event where all students, staff, and families are encouraged to show their appreciation for our hard-working transportation staff!
Our transportation staff are going above and beyond to make sure students get to and from school safely each and every day. Please make sure they know how much they are valued!
You can celebrate your bus drivers by providing gifts, hosting a breakfast for transportation staff (our LRMS PTSA is doing this!), and asking students to create hand-made cards and banners.
Be sure to take pictures and/or videos and share on social media under the hashtag #WCPSSLovesTheBus
7. Eighth Grade DC Field Trip Updates from Mrs. Ricciuti and Mr. Russell:

Parent meeting for the DC trip will be in the Media Center on Wednesday, 2/19 at 5:30

4th payment for the DC trip of $90 is due on 2/14.

Student rooming meeting in the cafeteria on 2/18 from 10-10:40.

If ANYONE still wants to go we need to know before Friday 2/28. We will take NO new students at that point.
8. PTSA Updates:

We know it's hard to imagine but it's about time to start recruiting for next year's board. We will have many vacancies as several volunteers will be heading to the high school next year.

Board Advisory Council Meeting
The Board Advisory Council for District 7 met on Thursday, January 30th at Sycamore Creek Elementary School. Dr. Robert P. Taylor, Superintendent of Wake County Schools, and Mr. Chris Heagarty, School Board Chairman, provided updates to principals and parent representatives.
Key points of discussion included: · Wake County policies & guidance on immigration enforcement & student access to public education · Academic accomplishments & challenges in 2024 · Funding, redistricting, transportation, and safety · PowerSchool data breach & data security
