Principal's Weekly Message, 1-24-25
Greetings LRMS Families,
I hope that all have made it safely through this unique week of "school!" In my 20+ years in WCPSS, I can't recall a one-day week for students. Hopefully, we'll find our rhythm as we launch the second semester of the year. Here are your weekly updates:
1. Next week is a "regular" five-day week of school!
2. Events next week:
- Tomorrow, Saturday, 1/25 - Future Cities Club Competition at NC State's McKimmon Center
- Monday, 1/27, 4pm - Basketball AWAY, @ Carroll MS (girls play first)
- Tuesday, 1/28 - Quarter 2 Report Cards go home
- Wednesday, 1/29 - Basketball HOME, vs. Pine Hollow (make-up game, boys play first)
- Friday, 1/31, 8:30am - LIONS Breakfast (by invitation only; make-up from 1/24)
- Friday, 1/31, 7-9pm - LRMS Winter Dance (students must have a ticket and attend school the day of the dance to be admitted; WCPSS Dress Code applies)
3. If you haven't already, please take a few minutes and fill out our LRMS mid-year family survey. This data helps our Leadership Team consider your ideas and perspectives as we partner together to serve all 800 students at our school. Thanks!
4. For current 8th graders going to Leesville Road High School next year, here are some upcoming opportunities:
- Leesville Road High School Open House, 2/13 - Here's the flyer with details.
- LRHS Career Academy
5. Save the date for Lions Madness, Friday, February 21! This will be a charity event and an evening of fun in the LRMS gym. Our Healthful Living Department and LMAC Boosters will be hosting a staff-student basketball game, three-point contest, raffle and other contests! Pizza and snacks will be sold in the cafeteria. Proceeds will go to LMAC and the American Heart Association. We hope to pack the gym and see you there!
6. Looking ahead, our Spirit Week for National School Counseling Week is the first week in February. Celebrate the work of our Student Services Team each day from 2/3 - 2/7. Here is the flyer.
7. PTSA Updates:
Don't forget your dance tickets for Friday!
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at: https://lrmsptsa.givebacks.com/store/items/1150393 or via CASH-only sales in the stairwell on the mornings on Tues, Jan 28, Wednesday, Jan 29 and Thursday, Jan 30. No tickets will be sold at the door.
The dance is open to all grade levels.
Volunteers are necessary to make this a successful event. We thank you in advance for your support: https://signupgenius.com/go/10C094BA9AA29A7FD0-54219887-lrms#/
