Principal's Weekly Message, 1-3-25
Happy New Year Lions!
I hope all are enjoying the Winter Break but also ready to get students back to school on Monday (fellow parents, can I get an AMEN?!). Here is the first Weekly Message of 2025:
1. Next week is a five-day week for students. This begins the final two weeks of the first semester. Please encourage students to be present and ready to get back to learning!
2. Events next week:
- Monday, 1/6, 3pm - Future Cities Club
- Wednesday, 1/8, 3pm - Future Cities Club
- Wednesday, 1/8, 4pm - Basketball AWAY, @ West Millbrook (girls play first)
- Thursday, 1/9, 3:15pm - Environmental Club
- Thursday, 1/9, 4pm - Basketball HOME, vs. Durant (boys play first)
3. Do you have neighbors or friends with 5th graders who may be interested in learning more about LRMS? Please invite them to the LRMS Showcase on the evening of Wednesday, January 15! Here is the flyer that can be shared with interested families.
4. Similarly, the Leesville Road High School Open House is coming up in February. This event is primarily for rising 9th graders. Here's the flyer with details.
5. Here's an opportunity for current 8th graders to learn more about the LRHS Game Design Academy. We will have a visit from the staff on January 9th during Lion’s time. Interested students should contact Dr. Leonce at jhowardleonce@wcpss.net
6. Interested in an LRHS Dance Clinic? See below:
Join the LRHS Dance Team for a clinic and dance at halftime of a LRHS Varsity Men’s Basketball game on Jan. 24. Details attached! Registration Deadline is Jan. 9.
7. Spring Sports tryouts are not that far away. Coach Close notes that anyone trying out for Spring Sports (softball, track, boys soccer) must have their Dragonfly completed by February 4. The Spring Sports Meeting will be at 5:10 pm on February 12 in our gymnasium.
Have a great weekend,
Chris Cox, Principal
