Principal's Weekly Message, 10-4-24

LRMS Families,

Last weekend, the western part of our state was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene and its effects.  Many churches and organizations are working to collect items to support these communities.  WCPSS has started a list of schools collecting donations.  I'm including that link here.  Here at LRMS, we have a contingent of staff and students who will also be organizing a supply drive.  Look for more details in next week's message.  Please keep western North Carolina in your thoughts and prayers as the long road to recovery begins.

Here are your weekly updates:

1.  Next week is a regular five-day week of school.

2.  Events next week:

  • Tonight, Friday 10/4, 9-11pm - Eighth Grade Skate Night!
  • Monday,10/7, 8:30am - LIONS Breakfast #1 (by invitation only, re-scheduled from 9/27)
  • Monday, 10/7, after school - Legally Blonde Jr. Auditions (see item #5 below)
  • Wednesday, 10/9, 3:15pm - Future Cities Club
  • Wednesday, 10/9, 4pm - Girls Soccer AWAY, @ Pine Hollow (this is a make-up game)

3.  October is also Disability History and Awareness Month.  Wake County Schools has adopted the theme of "Unity in Diversity."  At LRMS, we want to encourage common language and common understanding.  We also want to increase public awareness and respect for students and adults with disabilities this month, and throughout the year.

4.  Correction on Bus Transportation for Routes 7, 8, and 10 - last week, three of our routes had some stops and times shift.  Some parts of the previously released letter from transportation did not match Power School for some stops and times.  Here is the corrected letter.

5.  Here is a note from Mrs. Casterline about play auditions:

Legally Blonde Auditions are MONDAY after school!  Be sure to sign up for your audition time slot and bring your signed audition packet to your audition.  In case you missed the meeting please grab a packet from outside the dance studio today.
