Principal's Weekly Message, 9-6-24
Greetings Lions!
We are two weeks into the school year, and I hope all students and families are finding their "rhythms" as we move deeper into the first quarter. Here are the weekly updates:
1. Next week is a five-day week of school.
2. Events next week:
- Monday, 9/9, 5-9pm - Goodberry's Spirit Night (at Leesville Towne Center)
- Wednesday, 9/11, 3:15 - Future City Club
- Wednesday, 9/11, 5:15pm - Fall Sports Teams Parent Meeting
3. Open House for all parents/guardians is Tuesday evening, September 17. This will also be the opening General PTSA Meeting and an opportunity to join, volunteer and purchase LRMS gear. Families will also be able to meet teachers and rotate through their student's six classrooms. Here are the key timeframes:
- 5:30pm - Welcome and Introductions from School and PTSA Leadership (in the gym)
- 6:15-7:20pm - Parents Visit all Six Classrooms/Teachers (schedule will be provided)
- 7:30pm - Advanced Learning and AIG Meeting (optional) in Media Center

7. We certainly appreciate our volunteers and value all you do to support our staff and ultimately, our students. This is your reminder to renew your volunteer status with Wake County Schools if you have not already done so. We would hate to not be able to include you as a chaperone at various trips and events, so please register this week! Here is the message with details.

Join the PTA |
Please join the PTSA for the 2024-2025 school year. Memberships can be purchased here. Digital payment and registration is preferred, but paper forms for cash and check payments are available in the front office.
A Parent Flyer was sent home with students last week that details all important PTSA information for the year. Email lrms.ptsa.info@gmail.com for any PTSA related questions you may have.

Volunteers Needed |
We are looking for a 6th-grade parent (or parents) to serve as Chairperson and for lots of volunteers for the upcoming 6th Grade Social! The event is Friday, October 4th, and much of the planning has been done already. Contact lrms.ptsa.info@gmail.com if you're interested!
We are also looking for a Chairperson and volunteers for the upcoming Book Fair. The event is scheduled for Nov 18-22. The Chair will work with our Library Media Coordinator, Ms. Bussell, to make this event a success.

Board Advisory Council Meeting Updates
The Board Advisory Council for District 7 met this Wednesday, September 4th at Alston Ridge Elementary School in Cary. Paula DeLucca, Senior Director of Child Nutrition Services, was the guest speaker and provided an overview of the WCPSS school meal program.
Also at the meeting:
· Rachel Jordan, PTA President at Alston Ridge Elementary School, was elected as the new District 7 BAC Chair.
· Beth Rossen, former BAC Chair, was elected as the new District 7 BAC Secretary.
· Chris Heagarty, District 7 School Board Representative and Chair, provided Board updates.
