Principal's Weekly Message, 5-3-24

LRMS Families,
Greetings, and I hope your week has gone well!  Along with WCPSS, we recognize the month of May as Jewish American Heritage Month and Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month.  As with all our cultural celebration months, we are highlighting relevant figures in history and present-day on our LRMS morning news for our students.  The embedded links above have more content on each celebration if you or your family would like to explore further.

Also families, please join me in recognizing our amazing teachers and staff next week for National Teacher Appreciation Week.  I know the PTSA has some great plans to honor our staff members each day, but I'd encourage each of you to reach out to our LRMS teachers and celebrate them in some way next week.  The teaching profession is not an easy journey for educators, but we commit to it because we believe the work is essential and has lasting value.  Our teachers strive to do their best to teach and nurture our 800+ students every day.  I'm so grateful for them, and I'm hopeful you are too...

Here are your weekly updates:

1.  Next week is a five-day week for students.

2.  Events next week:

3.  Family Survey... Have you completed the District's family survey yet?  Remember, this information is hugely beneficial to our leadership team as we consider your level of connection to LRMS.  Please take a few minutes to submit your feedback sometime this week!

4.  For all current 6th and 7th graders interested in athletics for next year, there is an important meeting scheduled for families at 5pm on Wednesday, May 15.  Our Athletic Director will explain the registration and eligibility process as well as navigating the website and Dragonflymax.  There will also be an opportunity to meet with several of our coaches. Please join us!

5.  Our friends and colleagues at the elementary school have requested that we remind families and guests to use the middle school parking lot and middle school sidewalks to access afternoon and evening events behind our school.  Please do not walk through the elementary walkways or play areas and afterschool programming continues into each evening.  Thanks.

6.  Here is the letter to 8th grade families sent out a couple weeks ago. This letter contains information about the 8th grade dance, Carnival and End-of-Year Ceremony
