Greetings LRMS Families,
Here are your weekly updates:
1. Next week is a five-day week of school.

- Tuesday, 2/13, 5pm - Spring Sports Parents Meeting in the Gym (Track, Softball, Boys Soccer)

3. Online payment changes to School Cash Online:
Wake County Public Schools is making a transition from Online School Payments (OSP) to a new platform called School Cash Online (SCO). For us at LRMS, payments that are already set-up in OSP will remain there for this school year. Any new payments this school year and starting into next year will be funneled toward the new site, SCO. For example:
- Remain on OSP: Library Fees, 8th Grade Charleston Trip, Finding Nemo Performance
- Utilize the new resource, SCO: 6th and 7th Grade Field Trips, any other upcoming payments
4. Next week is Love the Bus Week in WCPSS. Let's honor our drivers as we still contend with driver shortages daily. Here's the blurb from WCPSS:
Love the Bus Week is Feb. 12-16, a perfect time for students, staff, and families to show their appreciation for our hard-working bus drivers. You can celebrate your bus drivers by providing gifts, providing a breakfast for drivers, and asking students to create hand-made cards and banners.
Some PTAs have funds set aside to support bus driver celebrations. Some businesses also will donate items for drivers. Encourage families to recognize the drivers as well. Be sure to take pictures and videos that can be shared on social media under the hashtag #WCPSSLovesTheBus.
5. Reminder from our Media Specialist, Ms. Bussell...
Overdue Book Challenge! Ms. Bussell is challenging all students to get their overdue library books turned in. The first homeroom for each grade level to get all of their overdue books in will get free doughnuts on Valentine's Day. If you'd like to sponsor doughnuts for additional homerooms who get all of their overdue books turned in, please contact Ms. Bussell at ebussell@wcpss.net.
6. Charleston 8th Grade Field Trip Updates from Mrs. Ricciuti:
- Last payment for Charleston is Friday 2/16 - we still have room if more students would like to attend the trip!
- Donations are being accepted for the field trip until the end of the month. Payments can be made online or given to Mrs. Ricciuti or Mr. Russell.
- Parent meeting for the Charleston Trip is Wednesday, March 6, at 6 pm in the media center.
7. An option for our current 8th graders who will be attending Leesville High...
8. PTSA Updates:
The PTSA delivered their January Staff Treat on Friday 1/26/24. Every staff member at Leesville Middle received a full-sized Hershey’s chocolate bar adorned with a special Lions logo label defining “Teachers”…made by one of our PTA parent volunteers!“A Teacher is a multi-tasking educational rockstar who lives to inspire and loves to encourage…They’re kind of a big deal!” Here’s to our teachers and staff! All the Best from Your PTSA!
Donate to Lion Locker |
Leesville Lion Locker is what we call our backpack buddies program. We sent a small bag of groceries (a few meals, snacks, breakfasts, and drinks) home with students on the weekends and longer breaks from school (families determined by our social worker). We have a limited budget to last them all year, so your donations could really help beef up the bags. If you'd like to help keep our students' bellies full, visit the Lion Locker Amazon Wishlist and select the option to send food directly to LRMS or purchase similar products and bring them to the front office. Thank you! |

Stock the Staff with Snacks |
If you'd like to donate snacks to perk up our teachers and staff, visit our Stock the Staff Lounges Amazon Wishlist here. You can choose to directly send items to the school or you can bring in similar items to the school yourself. |

Have a great weekend,
Chris Cox, Principal
