32 year-round schools kick off 2023-24
The 2023-24 school year officially begins on Tuesday, July 11, as 32 multi-track year-round schools open to serve more than 30,000 students.
Other school start dates:

Modified-calendar schools start Monday, July 24;

Track 4 year-round schools start Monday, July 31;

Wake STEM Early College starts Thursday, Aug. 3;

Leadership academies and all other early colleges start Tuesday, Aug. 8

And traditional calendar schools start Monday, Aug. 28.

Things to note for the 2023-24 school year:

Year-round calendar families received detailed bus route information on June 22.

The Here Comes the Bus app helps families with determining when the bus will arrive and if there is a substitute driver.

Approximately 175 buses will be on the roads Tuesday morning, July 11, so we ask everyone to take extra care making their way to work or school.

School lunch prices will increase by 25 cents this year to cover increased food and supplies costs. Full-paid lunches will cost $3.25 at elementary schools, $3.50 at middle and high schools.

We will begin implementation of our new Strategic Plan this school year. Our plan includes a set of ambitious goals and related metrics to help us measure and report the district’s progress. The plan also includes a set of aims that represent the actions we will take to achieve our goals.
