Ms. Tiffany Rich - Principal

I am the Principal of Sanford Creek Elementary and was honored to join the BlueJay “nest” eight years ago. This is my 26th year in education and my 22nd year of experience in Multi-Track Year Round schools– all of which have been within the Wake County Public School System. Previous roles of mine include teacher, Instructional Resource Teacher and Assistant Principal.  I am a product of the Wake Co. School System with fond memories of growing up in Raleigh. I received my undergraduate degree in Child Development from Meredith College and my graduate degrees (Masters of Literacy Studies and Administration) from UNC Chapel Hill. Go Heels!!  I am a regular “beach goer” and enjoy the weekends that make me slow down and take walks on the beach, eat ice cream on the pier, and dig my toes in the sand.  At home in Raleigh, most times one would find me working on a home improvement or decorating project, spending time with family and friends, and loving on my cat.

FACT: The Sanford Creek Staff is a family of educators that are Focused, Attentive, Committed, and Trusting to ensure Success for all students.  This is our School Improvement work for the 2022-2023 school year.  I am proud to lead, learn and partner with families and the community in our work of “Growing All Learners and Leaders”.

Ms. Gladys Washington - Assistant Principal

I am honored to be the assistant principal of Sanford Creek Elementary and thrilled to be a Blue Jay! As an educator with more than 25 years of experience, I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University and my graduate degree in School Administration from North Carolina State University. Prior to becoming an assistant principal, I was a classroom teacher with experience in grades one through four. Over the span of my career, I have worked for both Beaufort and Jasper County School Districts in South Carolina, as well as taught in Edgecombe and Harnett County Public Schools. However, the majority of my professional career has been in the Wake County Public School System.

I’ve lived in Raleigh most of my life and still enjoy the countless amenities it offers. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, taking long walks, writing poetry, beautifying my yard, and spending time with family and friends. As an advocate for equity, I am passionate about ensuring all students have equitable access to resources, providing rigorous and engaging learning opportunities, and building strong partnerships with families and students. Sanford Creek is my home, and at the beginning of every school year, I look forward to making more amazing memories while leading alongside fellow Blue Jays to inspire lifelong learning, servant leadership, and excellence!
