Upcoming Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences
In our continual effort to see students find academic success and have future doors opened for them, we’ve got 2nd semester parent-teacher conferences right around the corner. If your high schooler is struggling in a course this year, this is your time, as their parent, to gain some insight from their teacher. Teachers are also being encouraged again this year to reach out to some of you for one of these meetings, so please accept any invitation you receive regarding a conference. Success is rarely reached in isolation; we need each other. The same holds true in our partnership with each of you, for your teen.
Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for February 20, 2025 (3:30 PM-5:30 PM). Families will be able to access the link tomorrow, February 10th, to register for a conference slot. Please click on the link below.
https://ptcfast.com/schools/Millbrook_High_School
Once you get to the sign-up page, you will first select what conference(s) you want. The next page will allow you to add your student(s) name and input your email address. The system then sends you a link to the email you selected, to choose appointment times along with the teacher google meet link/code. From that link, you can also add and change registrations. If you have not received an email from the system within about an hour, we suggest you check your spam/junk folder to see if it was filtered there. *If you do not have a GMAIL account, you will need to download the Google Meets app and sign in to access the meeting.
For additional questions or concerns, please reach out to Catherine Brown, Dean of Students, at crbrown@wcpss.net.
Help Desk will be available on February 20th from 3:30-5:30. Please go to the school website the day of conferences if you need assistance! The link will be located in the banner.
Quarter Two Academic Recovery Plans
Any student who failed a course for Quarter Two may complete an Academic Recovery Plan (ARP) to increase Quarter Two final grade to a 60. Plans are located on the student's course Canvas site. All work related to the ARP should be completed and submitted to the teacher no later than Friday, February 28th, 2025. If you have any questions on how to access your ARP, you may speak with your teacher or alpha counselor for assistance.
Concentrating Hard on Career & Technical Education (or CTE)
If your Senior has been identified as a CTE Concentrator (a student who has earned two or more technical credits in a Career Cluster Pathway, at least one of which is a completer course), then they are required to take the NC WorkKeys Assessment. The ACT WorkKeys assessment will be given free of charge to all North Carolina students who are considered Career and Technical Education (CTE) Concentrators.
The WorkKeys assessment is designed to measure students’ career readiness as they prepare to enter the workforce. WorkKeys assesses students’ abilities in three core areas: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. Students’ performance in these areas is meant to demonstrate their abilities to potential employers using standardized, quantitative metrics. There are four certification levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. We will be testing Seniors that are already identified as Concentrators during the final week of the month, February 24th-28th.

This in-school event will celebrate students as a group, however they will not be individually recognized.
