The Marine Science Club is celebrating Aquatic Animal Day (April 3rd) early on Thursday, March 30th. We will have a celebration Thursday B lunch in room 3632, spreading awareness about the day and all of the amazing aquatic animals we have in the world. We also are inviting anyone who wants to participate to wear something of their favorite aquatic animal, shirt, shoes, etc.
Looking for ways to become involved in planning events for teenagers and in community service opportunities in Holly Springs? Holly Springs has created a Teen Advisory Council and needs teenager input! Working with Holly Springs Parks & Recreation, the Teen Recreation Advisory Council gives residents ages 13-17 a forum to share their ideas about programs, events, and volunteer activities. The teens then help turn their ideas into reality, expanding programming and encouraging community activities in Town. See below for upcoming volunteer opportunities.

At the April meeting, we will begin the process of forming subcommittees, and designating roles and responsibilities for the children's zone at the annual July 5th Celebration.

The HSPD Public Safety Cadets will be hosting an interest meeting on Wednesday, March 29 (this is a date change from March 22) in room 3614 during A lunch. All are welcome to stop by and learn about the Post.
The eSports Club is recruiting for a Valorant Tournament with Panther Creek on April 16th (tentative date) at Triangle Esports Academy. For more information come to 2726 during lunch on Thursday or email Mr. Snead (besnead@wcpss.net). We need a minimum of two teams, high and low ELO. Anyone is welcome, if we have enough interest tryouts may be held.
News for our Media Center: MONTHLY CHALLENGE wrap up! We have had a lot of students pick up bookmarks to design (there are still some available too)! Please be sure to have your bookmarks turned in by 1st block March 30th. The top winner will be voted on, and additional winners will be drawn prior to Spring Break- we will call winners down for their prizes.

Media Center News:
Community Table- For the next couple of months our community table is set up to make thank you cards/letters. We will be making cards and writing letters to US veterans participating in what is known as an “Honor Flight”. On May 3rd, a group of NC veterans from past wars will be traveling to Washington DC, for their last "mission"... visiting our country's Capitol and the memorials raised in their honor.
Before these men and women board their flight, they will have a "Mail Call" as they did all those years ago when they were serving our country away from their families. Our students are welcome to take a moment to make a card or write a letter of appreciation made out to "Dear Veteran," and sign in "From a student". These will be added to the mail bag to bring a smile to their faces.

The 2022-2023 Senior Scholarship application is now available. Applications are due by April 14, 2023. Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded during the Senior Awards ceremony (date to be determined).

- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (weighted) – verified by School Enrollment/Registration/Records.
- Be accepted to a technical school, community college, or college/university for the fall of 2023 – verified by a copy of the student’s acceptance letter.
- Complete and submit this HSHS PTSA Scholarship Application on or before April 14, 2023. Applications will be online only for the 2022-23 school year.

SOS Prevention: The Holly Springs High School Student Services Department will present the Signs of Suicide (SOS) Prevention Program during classroom guidance to freshmen enrolled in Healthful Living the week of March 27 and April 17. Please refer to this letter with additional information. If there are questions, contact your student's school counselor for additional information.

We will be making cards and writing letters to US veterans participating in what is known as an “Honor Flight”. On May 3rd, a group of NC veterans from past wars will be traveling to Washington DC, for their last "mission"... visiting our country's Capitol and the memorials raised in their honor.
Before these men and women board their flight, they will have a "Mail Call" as they did all those years ago when they were serving our country away from their families. Our students are welcome to take a moment to make a card or write a letter of appreciation made out to "Dear Veteran," and sign in "From a student". These will be added to the mail bag to bring a smile to their faces.

HSHS Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion
The band program will be hosting a Friends and Family Showcase on Friday, March 24th, starting at 6:30pm in the gym. The showcase will feature performances from the Lil Hawks (elementary), Junior Hawks (middle school), Holly Springs Purple, Holly Springs Gold and Holly Springs Indoor Percussion, and all seniors will be recognized. The Gold and Purple high school winter guard teams will be hosting a winter guard clinic from 5-6:30pm prior to the showcase, for students grades 2-8. More information on the showcase and the clinic can be found on the event flyer

The International Festival will be returning this spring, March 24, 2023. It will be held in the HSHS commons area after school from 6-8 PM, during which there will be food, crafts, performances, a fashion show, and several informational booths about the different cultures represented at HSHS. There are multiple openings for both representation and volunteering, which are outlined in the Google Form below. Once we finalize the program, we will issue RSVP forms in case anything has/will change with your schedule.

March Library Challenge- Design a bookmark using one of the blank ones at the entrance to the library. Each student can submit 2 bookmarks to be voted on, and the winning bookmark will have copies made for other students to use and keep. The HSPD Public Safety Cadets will be hosting an interest meeting on Wednesday, March 22 in room 3614 during A lunch. All are welcome to stop by and learn about the Post.
Media Center News:
March Library Challenge- Design a bookmark using one of the blank ones at the entrance to the library. Each student can submit 2 bookmarks to be voted on, and the winning bookmark will have copies made for other students to use and keep. The winner will also get a gift basket of goodies and a gift card. Two other bookmarks will also be randomly selected for prizes.
Community Table- For the next couple of months our community table is set up to make thank you cards/letters. We will be making cards and writing letters to US veterans participating in what is known as an “Honor Flight”. On May 3rd, a group of NC veterans from past wars will be traveling to Washington DC, for their last "mission"... visiting our country's Capitol and the memorials raised in their honor.
Before these men and women board their flight, they will have a "Mail Call" as they did all those years ago when they were serving our country away from their families. Our students are welcome to take a moment to make a card or write a letter of appreciation made out to "Dear Veteran," and sign in "From a student". These will be added to the mail bag to bring a smile to their faces.

HSHS Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion
The band program will be hosting a Friends and Family Showcase on Friday, March 24th, starting at 6:30pm in the gym. The showcase will feature performances from the Lil Hawks (elementary), Junior Hawks (middle school), Holly Springs Purple, Holly Springs Gold and Holly Springs Indoor Percussion, and all seniors will be recognized. The Gold and Purple high school winter guard teams will be hosting a winter guard clinic from 5-6:30pm prior to the showcase, for students grades 2-8. More information on the showcase and the clinic can be found on the event flyer

The National Honor Society has started accepting candidate packets. Rising juniors and seniors who have at least a 4.0 weighted GPA have been invited by email to a Canvas course with the packet and resources. Eligible candidates will have until March 17 to submit their completed packets. Incomplete packets will not be scored and late submissions will not be accepted. The International Festival will be returning this spring, March 24, 2023. It will be held in the HSHS commons area after school from 6-8 PM, during which there will be food, crafts, performances, a fashion show, and several informational booths about the different cultures represented at HSHS. There are multiple openings for both representation and volunteering, which are outlined in the Google Form below. Once we finalize the program, we will issue RSVP forms in case anything has/will change with your schedule.

The 2022-2023 Senior Scholarship application is now available. Applications are due by April 14, 2023. Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded during the Senior Awards ceremony (date to be determined).

Remember, to be eligible for consideration, student applicants must:
- Be a member in good standing of the HSHS PTSA on or before April 14, 2023 - verified by the PTSA Membership Chair.
- Be a senior in good standing – verified by School Enrollment/Registration/Records.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (weighted) – verified by School Enrollment/Registration/Records.
- Be accepted to a technical school, community college, or college/university for the fall of 2023 – verified by a copy of the student’s acceptance letter.
- Complete and submit this HSHS PTSA Scholarship Application on or before April 14, 2023. Applications will be online only for the 2022-23 school year.
