    Good Afternoon Holly Springs High School Community, this is your Principal Rob Morrison with our weekly message.  

     

    There is no school for students on Monday, February 17 and Tuesday, February 18.  

     

    Attention all College and Career Promise  students, starting this semester and moving forward, all course grades and credits earned in CCP courses will be recorded on your HSHS transcript as well.  Please put your best efforts into all of your classes. Withholding grades from your high school transcript will not be an option.

     

    Our AP and Curriculum Night is Thursday, February 20, 2020.  Current students and their families are invited to arrive at 5:00 while rising freshman and their families can begin arriving at 6:00.  There will be an information session for rising freshman and their families at 5:30 and 7:00 in the auditorium.  Rising freshman families feel free to arrive at 5:30 if attending the 5:30 information session. 

     

    Blind Pelican is hosting a Holly Springs High School PTSA Spirit Day on Thursday, February 20, 2020.  Our PTSA will get a portion of the proceeds from the entire day.

    Juniors!  The ACT is coming in February.  Are you ready?  We will be offering three 4-hour ACT support courses in preparation for the ACT free of charge.  The first session will begin Tuesday, February 4th. Each session will be two days in length from 2:45 PM - 5:00 PM.  If you are interested, please register here.  You may register for more than one session; however, each session will be very similar.  Please email Ms. Newby at jnewby@wcpss.net if you have any questions. Thank you!

     

    Senior Families, We will share the number of graduation tickets each family will receive as soon as we get the information.  Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Our Mid-Year Graduation celebration is Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 1:00 in our Auditorium.

    Our Women's Basketball team will be hosting a Play4Kay game on Tuesday 2/4 against Garner High School at 6:30 p.m.  The Play4Kay game is used to raise awareness and fundraise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which aims to support innovative ways of fighting ALL cancers affecting women.  If you would like to help make this game a success please help in one of the following ways:

    1. Mark your calendars and make sure to be in attendance.  Attached is a poster created by students that you can use to spread the word.
    2. Make a donation or encourage others to make a donation.  The link to donate is: https://support.kayyow.com/hollysprings   If we reach our goal of $15,000 raised, our Sport and Entertainment Marketing teacher Mr. Will has agreed to permanently dye his hair pink.
    3. Part of the mission of the Play4Kay game is to inspire others.  At halftime, we will look to honor any women survivors of cancer.  We will also have a moment where we will recognize all in attendance who have been impacted by cancer.  Please send the attached flyer to friends, family or colleagues that you know have battled and survived cancer.  If they are willing to be honored, please have them contact Mr. Will at jwill@wcpss.net. We are looking to receive flower donations from local vendors so we need an exact number of honored guests.

     

    Seniors, come pick up your Free Senior Shirt, room 3616 at A/B Lunch Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Wednesday and Thursday B lunch only. Before school at 7:05. No time after school. Please do not come after school!

    Below is the remaining first semester exam schedule:

    Jan. 27 - Make-up Exams, only students making up exams need to come to school. 

     

    The first day of the second semester is Tuesday, January 28.  Students will report to their homerooms by 7:25 am.

     

    Wednesday, January 29 is a Teacher Workday, no school for students.

    Next week 1/27-1/31 Softball will pre-sell boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts for $10 a box.  Doughnuts will be delivered FRESH on Friday afternoon! 

     

    Chorus Fundraising News

    The Town of Holly Springs will have a public drop-in meeting on the upcoming widening of Avent Ferry Road from N.C. 55 to Ralph Stephens Road. The meeting will be held:

    Thursday, Jan. 30 from 6-8 p.m.

    All are invited to drop-in at their convenience during this time to see the plans and ask questions of Town Engineering staff.  Construction is scheduled to start this spring.

    There is no school on Monday, January 20 as we observe the Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

     

    Below is the first semester exam schedule:

    Jan. 21 - 1st Period Non-EOC Exams 7:25-10:24am

    Jan. 21 - 2nd Period Non-EOC Exams 11:19am-2:18pm

    Jan. 22 - 3rd Period Non-EOC Exams 7:25-10:24am

    Jan. 22 - 4th Period Non-EOC Exams 11:19am-2:18pm

    Jan. 23 - English II and Math 1 EOC 7:25am-11:00am

    Jan. 24 - Biology and Math 3 EOC 7:25-11:00am

    Jan. 27 - Make-up Exams, only students making up exams need to come to school. 

     

    On January 21 and 22 lunch will be from 10:24-11:14 am

    On January 23 and 24 lunch will be from 11:00-11:45am

    On January 23 and 24 Study Hall will be from 11:50am-2:18pm

    Dismissal will be at 2:18pm each day.

    Students may not be signed out during an exam period. 

     

    Students will not be allowed to enter an exam late.

    Students who completed CCP courses at Wake Tech for the fall and want their course grades evaluated for inclusion on their HSHS transcript should reach out to Mr. Ellington.  Students cannot pick and choose which grades to submit - either all grades from the Wake Tech transcript are included or none.
