Scholarships
A scholarship is an award of financial aid for a student to further their education. Scholarships are awarded based upon various criteria, which usually reflect the values and purposes of the donor or founder of the award. Scholarship money is not required to be repaid by the student.

Additional Scholarship Resources
Search the website of the college you plan to attend. Many colleges have a page on their website dedicated entirely to scholarships available to their students.
Use other scholarship websites to search for scholarships, like cfnc.org, fastweb.com, North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, Hispanic Fund, or United Negro College Fund.
Check with your employer to see if they offer scholarships.
Applying for Financial Aid
As soon as possible after its October release, complete and submit your FAFSA® form, along with any other financial aid applications your chosen school(s) may require. You should submit your FAFSA form by the earliest financial aid deadline of the schools to which you are applying, usually by early February.
After you submit the FAFSA form, you should receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) within three days to three weeks. This document lists your answers to the questions on your FAFSA form and gives you some basic information about your aid eligibility. Quickly make any necessary corrections and submit them to the FAFSA processor.
CSS Profile
Some colleges require you to complete the CSS Profile. This is an additional financial aide opprotunity.
If you plan to apply to UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, Wake Forest, Davidson, Southeastern Baptist, or Elon, you must also fill out the profile. Check here for list for all participating schools.
