    Who is eligible?

    • Must be a senior at a North Carolina public high school
    • Must be a SECU member or eligible for membership through a parent/guardian
    • Must be a United States citizen, a resident of North Carolina, and eligible for in-state tuition
    • Must be accepted to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities as a full-time undergraduate 
    • Must have demonstrated scholastic achievement with a 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale
    • Must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement
    • Must file FAFSA as part of the application

     

    Students are highly encouraged to turn in applications well ahead of the deadline as there are several components to the application.  There will be no extension for incomplete applications or applications that are not in the correct format.    

     

    The Garner Magnet High School Scholarship Committee will review the applications, conduct interviews, and select the GMHS scholarship recipient.

    • Must plan on attending the following Colleges/Universities
    • Atlanta University Center Consortium (Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, or Spelman College)
    • Hampton University
    • LeMoyne-Owen College
    • Morgan State University
    • North Carolina A&T University
    • Tennessee State Univerity
    • Texas Southern University
    • Tuskegee University
    • GPA has to be 3.0 or higher
    • Must have completed Fasfa on file and demonstrate a financial need.
    • Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident, or passport stamped I-551.

  • Garner Civitan Club Scholarship

    • Demonstrate a financial need.

    • Senior transcripts with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 (un-weighted)
    • Copies of your (SAT) & (ACT) score report
    • Participation in community and school activities and completion of the personal statement
    • Acceptance Letter to a 2 or 4-year institution of higher learning

    Scholarships are presented in honor of Abe Wade, a 1966 Charter member whose dedication and commitment to the Garner community provided the framework by which this honor is granted.

  • Chick-Fil-A Community Scholarship

    • Any graduating senior.
    • Students will be selected based on academic success, community service, and financial needs. 
    • Students can be recommended by teachers, coaches, community leaders, or mentors. You must have up to three recommendation letters.
    • Must show 12 months of community service prior to applying.
    • Must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
    • Applicants cannot be employed at Chick-fil-A during the time of applying.
