• In-State College Admissions Information


    Applicants from North Carolina Cooperative Innovative High Schools receive special consideration in admission to UNC system universities based on North Carolina law. According to House Bill 97 Section 11.16.(a), “any student who has graduated from a cooperative innovative high school program with an associate degree and who applies for admission to the constituent institution the option of being considered for admission as a freshman or as a transfer student". Please weigh the options carefully. Families should consider the benefits of applying as a first-time freshman (ie: more scholarship opportunities, campus housing, transfer credit, just to name a few).

    House Bill 97 Section 11.16:

    EARLY COLLEGE GRADUATES/UNC ADMISSION POLICY SECTION 11.16.(a)  The Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina shall adopt a policy to require each constituent institution to offer to any student who graduated from a cooperative innovative high school program with an associate degree and who applies for admission to the constituent institution the option of being considered for admission as a freshman or as a transfer student. The constituent institution shall also provide written information to the student regarding the consequences that accompany each option and any other relevant information that may be helpful to the student when considering which option to select.


    Out-of-State College Admissions Information


    Students must contact each out-of-state institution to find out if students can apply as a first-time freshman or transfer student. Decisions about admissions may vary from institution to institution.
