Mrs. Hernandez, 3rd Grade Teacher
Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! I am Ellen Hernandez and I am overjoyed to be returning to teach 3rd grade at Leesville Elementary. I have spent the past two years living in Southeastern NC where I continued to teach 3rd grade in Brunswick County. Although living at the beach was a dream come true, I missed home so much that even the sand and sun couldn’t keep me away. I discovered that there truly is no substitute for this unique and tight-knit community we lovingly call Leesville.
I grew up in Chapel Hill (Go Tar Heels) and attended UNC Greensboro for my undergraduate studies. After marrying and having three kids I decided to go back to school at NC State to get my Master’s in Teaching degree. I worked at LES as an instructional assistant while my kids were younger, then returned to Leesville after grad school to teach 3rd grade. All 3 of my children graduated from LRHS and are proud Loonies. My youngest is one of the many “Leesville Lifers” who attended K-12 on this campus and participated in the first Senior Walk ceremony to honor the high school graduates in 2017. My oldest daughter is a quiet artist and fan of k-pop, my son is a sports enthusiast and graduated from NC State last year, and my youngest daughter is a senior at UNCW with a major in film studies. I also have a fur baby named Blue who is an odd-looking mix of basset hound and German shepherd. I look forward to meeting all of you!
