    December Principal Message 2019

    Thank you, PTA!!

Thank you to our wonderful PTA for a fabulous Fall Festival and a great Book Fair!  Our PTA has worked so hard to provide us with great events and to make sure they have funds to support great opportunities for our students. Thank you so much for all that you do!

    Friday, Dec. 20

Please remember that Friday, December 20, is a regular school day – this is a make up day for severe weather back in September.  Thank you.

    Winter Break

Winter break will happen December 23 – January 3.  The school will be closed during this time.  Please also be reminded that January 20, is a holiday and January 29 is a teacher workday.

    Spotlight on Students

Each year the WCPSS School Board highlights one student from each school as nominated by staff. This year’s winner at Green Elementary is Kayleyah Fletcher, fifth grade student.  Kayleyah is a hard-working student leader here at Green.  Congratulations Kayleyah and we look forward to celebrating you at a school board meeting soon!

    Student Lighthouse Team

Our Student Lighthouse Team has been hard at working collecting food for those in need.  Our Student Lighthouse Team collected 364 pounds of food items, which is enough to prepare 303 meals for those in need.  Donations went to the Food Bank of central and eastern NC.  Way to show an investment in the care of your community by our Student Leaders!

Green Elementary students reached the goal set for us by the Carolina Hurricanes of 2,020 books read by December 6.  In fact, our students surpassed this goal by reading 2,527 books so far.  Now we await news if we are selected to go to a Hurricanes practice session as a school.  Stay tuned!

    Student Pick Up

We continue to have students who are left on campus for long periods of time after dismissal.  Please be reminded that student carpool and walker pick up must happen by 4:30pm at the very latest.  We will make referrals to our social worker for students who are repeatedly left on campus after 4:30 and we remind parents that repeated failure to have students at school on time in the morning and repeated late pick ups in the afternoon is grounds for revoking a student transfer.  Our office closes at 4:30pm each day.  Thank you for your cooperation in picking up students on time.

As always, thank you so much for your great support of our school. Together is better – thanks for synergizing with us at Green!

    Peace –

    Dr. B
