Principal Message February 2019
Thanks so much to all who came out to our Leadership Showcase last Thursday. The students loved being able to share their club interests and their Leadership Notebooks with parents and family members. On behalf of our staff and our fabulous PTA we thank you for your continued support of our programs here at Green!
Congratulations to all students who participated in our Geography Bee on January 23. Students participated in qualifying rounds in their classrooms and finalists were chosen from our 4th and 5th grade classrooms. Congratulations to our overall winners:
First Place Steven Salas-Arias
Second Place Jeremiah Hunter
COVEY Parent Workshop
Please join me for a Parent Workshop on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People on Thursday, February 7 at 6:00pm in our Media Center. Please join us and learn about the language of the habits, how they are taught, and how you can apply some of these principles in your family life at home. We are eager to share with you so please plan to attend on Thursday, February 7 at 6:00pm.
Principal Advisory Board (PAC)
Our next PAC meeting will be Friday, February 1 at 8:00am. See you then!
Our next Early Release Day is Friday, February 15. Please be sure that your child’s teacher knows how your child will go home that day. Remember that we dismiss at 1:15pm so be at bus stops at that time.
Science Fair and Leadership Showcase
Our next Leadership Showcase will be partnered with our Science Fair! Details were sent home in Monday Folders on January 28. Participation is voluntary but we encourage all students to participate. Additional forms are available at the front office or you may contact our Instructional Facilitator Carolyn Mitchell (cmitchell3 @wcpss.net) for additional details.
Leadership Showcase/Science Fair will take place on Thursday, April 4. Start planning now!
Please be reminded that the cut off time for early check out is 3:15pm. If you have an appointment and need to pick up your child early, please do so before 3:15pm.
It’s that time of year when we watch and listen for school changes due to inclement weather. Please be reminded to check out local news stations and to check the WCPSS district web site for any updates related to weather.
Also please put names inside all jackets and hats! We had dozens of coats/sweaters/hats in our lost in found prior to the holiday break. Please remind your children about keeping up with coats and hats – remember to ask about them at the end of the day and, if they are lost, please pay a timely visit to our lost and found. Thanks!
Please consider joining our PTA and lending your support!
Yours in Peace,
Lisa Brown, Principal
