Ms. Laura Barrett, CCR Teacher
Ms. Barrett is a Special Education teacher at Green Elementary. This is her 11th year teaching special education (CCR). She is very excited for another year teaching at Green. She loves football, her dog, coffee, and a good book!

Ms. Rhonda Johnson, CCR Teacher
Mrs. Johnson is a CCR Teacher at Green Leadership and World Languages Magnet Elementary. This will be her 19th year of teaching. She has also taught Middle School Language Arts. In addition, she has also taught ESL and English as an Adjunct Professor. Mrs. Johnson has two beautiful and creative daughters (ages: 22 and 15) who continue to inspire her each day. They are her pride and joy! Mrs. Johnson loves to encourages her students to be creative, have fun, do their best, while they are learning! She enjoys the priceless reward of seeing them smile and reach their goals! Lastly, outside of school, Mrs. Johnson truly enjoys spending time with family & friends, going to new places, crafting, creative writing, going to plays, shows, and movies!

Elementary Education with an emphasis on Autism and multicategorical
Ms. Delainy Seccurro, CCR Teacher
Ms. Seccurro is a CCR teacher at Green Leadership and World Languages Magnet Elementary. She earned her degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Autism and Multi-categorical from Marshall University. She is passionate about helping students discover their self-worth and encouraging them to make a positive impact on society. Before joining Green, she worked in WV as a resource/inclusion teacher for three years. She was inspired by her own academic struggles throughout her schooling and wanted to become the help she once needed. Outside of school, she enjoys live music, crafting, and being outdoors.

Mrs. Cheri Walker Grooms, CCR Instructional Assistant
Cheri Walker Grooms is the CCR Instructional Assistant at Green Elementary. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education Administration with a minor in Sociology. She has been part of the Green Elementary community since February 2015 and has worked directly with children from birth through age 12 since 2006. In August, she married her wonderful husband, Jovan, and together they have blended their families, which include four children, ages 22, 20, 18, and 16. In her free time, she enjoys photography, arts and crafts, and exploring cultures through food and travel. She looks forward to working with Green’s young leaders and helping them reach their goals this year.

Ms. Kim Chase, Speech and Language Pathologist
Ms. Chase is a Speech/Language Pathologist at Green Leadership and World Languages Magnet Elementary. She has earned her B.S. and M.S. degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State University. Before joining Wake County Schools almost 20 years ago, Ms. Chase worked at schools in Atlanta, GA and Tallahassee, FL.She was inspired to become a SLP when she saw the challenges her cousin endured as someone with a severe stuttering disorder. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her two children who are in high school and going to concerts.

Ms. Katherine Hrivnak, ECS Teacher 3-5
Ms. Hrivnak, an ECS Level 2 teacher, is entering her 13th year in education. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and a graduate of Peace University in downtown Raleigh. A product of Wake County Public Schools herself, she is proud to serve in the same community where she grew up. Born in Santiago, Chile, Ms. Hrivnak is the mother of two daughters, ages 13 and 15, and shares her home with a five-year-old goldendoodle named Chloe.

I am new to the WCPSS community but loving every second of it. I am a dog parent for 9 years and diabetic for 23. I live with a motto of "I can't help but help." If you ever need assistance, and you see me, just ask and I'll do what I can!

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Education
Ms. Marissa Hogan, Instructional Assistant
Ms. Hogan is an Instructional Assistant with ECS 1 at Green Leadership and World Languages Magnet Elementary. She earned her Degree at William Peace University where she focused on more educational base classes. Ms. Hogan has a passion for making sure all students feel loved and welcomed to our school. She works on developing deep relationships with her students. Before joining Green, she worked as a camp counselor and camp director for The City Of Raleigh as well as customer service representative. Inspired by her own teachers and her time with children in summer camps, she soon found her path for teaching. She saw that every child needs that person who can love them outside of home as well as be their cheerleader when no one else is there. Outside of school she works with the YMCA as a site coordinator and Camp head counselor during the summer. She lives in raleigh and enjoys time with family , friends and her pomsky. She also enjoys watching her nephew play football, and traveling when she can.

Ms. Pamela O'Connor, Instructional Assistant
Mrs. O'Connor is an Instructional Assistant in the ECS2 classroom. She has been in the educational school setting for over 20 years as a teacher, building sub, and instructional assistant. She received her teaching degree at Northern Illinois University in Illinois. She has a passion for helping children learn academically, emotionally, and socially. Working with ECS 2 has been very rewarding for her and she thoroughly enjoys it! Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, reading, baking, and spending time with her 23 year old son. He is currently at North Carolina State in the PHD program for statistics.
