  • Please note that our College Scholarship list is updated as scholarships come in, usually a weekly basis.  Please scroll through the entire list to check for new updates.

    Seniors, as you receive academic and athletic scholarships, please bring a copy of the notification letter to Mrs. Davidson in Student Services by May 4, 2020. Scholarships are announced at the May Awards Ceremony. In addition, the total scholarship dollars offered the Class of 2019 will be announced at graduation in June. You do not have to attend the college that offers you the scholarship in order for your scholarship to be included in the class total.

  • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Founders' Centennial Scholarship: Deadline- 02/28/2020

    In honor of the five founding members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, the Centennial International President of Zeta Phi Beta will award $100,000 scholarship each year to a new recipient, for five consecutive years beginning the sorority’s Centennial Anniversary year of 2020.

    The award will be made to one deserving female high school senior to cover the educational cost up to and not to exceed $100,000 total. The award is targeted to honor a Title I school senior, who exhibits personal integrity and excellence through academic achievement and community involvement, and demonstrates a moderate to a significant need for financial assistance in attaining her educational goals. The recipient may complete her undergraduate studies in the field of her choice at an accredited four-year college or university of her choice.


    General Eligibility: Must be a female senior student at a Title I high school or an International equivalent high school. 


    • Must be graduating in May (spring) of the award year and enrolling as a full-time student in an accredited college or university in the fall of the same year.
    •  Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate financial need. 
    • Community service and involvement is a plus. Affiliation with any members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated or any of its auxiliary organizations is not a requirement. 


    Due by February 28, 2020. Applications and support documents received after this date will not be considered for the award.

  • Sigma Rho Zeta Annual High School Scholarship: Deadline- 02/28/2020

    The Sigma Rho Zeta High School Scholarship is available to any minority graduating high school senior in Wake County with a GPA of at least a 3.0 (unweighted).  The graduating senior must be enrolled at chosen college/university for the Fall semester of 2020.


    • The Sigma Rho Zeta High School Scholarship is a one-time award payment of $1,500 which will be awarded for full-time study for the 2020-2021 academic year.
    • Proof of enrollment/university acceptance must be received before disbursement of scholarship funds.
    • Scholarship funds will be remitted to the Financial Aid office of the designated college/university to be applied toward tuition and/or appropriate fees.

  • Garner Civitan Club Scholarship: Deadline- 04/24/2020

    Requirements and Eligibility

    1. Members of the Jr. Civitan Club at Garner Magnet High School, children, and/or grandchildren of Civitan Club members.
    2. Applicants must plan to attend a two or four-year college or technical school in the Fall of 2020.
    3. Quality of written statement of education and career goals will be a weighted factor.
    4.  School extracurricular activities and community service will be weighted factors.
    5.  Leadership roles will be assessed.
    6.  Academic achievement will be weighted, but consideration will also be given to those who are not ranked at the top of their class.
    7.  Award amounts to be determined based on the number of applicants.  Scholarship checks are made payable to the applicable college unless otherwise approved by the Scholarship Committee.

  • Garner Educational Foundation Scholarships: Deadline - 04/01/2020

    The Garner Educational Foundation (GEF) offers scholarships that are funded as a result of partnerships between GEF with individuals, businesses, and community-based organizations and administered by the Garner Educational Foundation.  It is the Foundation’s goal to walk alongside students by giving financial support for their education, but also to affirm them in their character devotion and perseverance for causes that are noteworthy and life-changing.


    Weighted factors for all applications include, not limited to:

    -Academic record as presented by a required official transcript or grade report from Power School

    -Review of extracurricular activities

    -Personal statement


    -Select scholarships may be needs-based and/or career intention specific

  • Trojan Club Athletic Scholarship: Due date - 03/18/2020

    Application Requirements

    1.  All applicants will receive the same considerations. An interview with the Scholarship Selection Committee may be requested.


    2.  Have a minimum weighted grade point average of 3.0.


    3.  Have participated in sports for 3 years (including senior year).


    4.  All athletes, cheerleaders, managers and trainers are eligible to apply.


    5.  Have been accepted at an institution of higher education.


    6.  Submit a transcript of grades with application.


    7.  Submit one letter of recommendation from someone other than a coach.


    8.  List all other scholarships for which you have applied and/or received.


    9. Detach the coach’s evaluation and give to your coach to complete & return to you in a sealed envelope with his/her signature across the back sealed flap (must be on GMHS coaching staff).  Please remind your coach the evaluation must be returned to you.  All materials due by the deadline.


    Completed application and all materials are due to Counsleor Mrs. Davidson by March 18, 2020, at 2:30pm.

  • Hispanic Scholarship Fund: Deadline- 02/15/2020

    HSF is the nation’s leading provider of scholarships and services designed to give Latino students full access to the opportunity a college education can provide. Founded in 1975, we have awarded over $619 million in scholarships. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000, and Finalists who do not receive financial awards nevertheless qualify to be HSF Scholars and have access to our full range of Scholar Support Services, such as  career coaching, internship and full-time employment opportunities, mentoring, leadership development, and wellness resources, including tools for self-advocacy, well-being, and knowledge building.

  • NCCU Raleigh-Wake Scholarship: Deadline- 03/27/20

    North Carolina Central University Alumni Association offers a scholarship to graduating seniors who are residents of Wake County.


    1. Applicants for the Alumni Scholarship must be accepted to North Carolina Central University (NCCU).

    2. Applicants must be a Wake County resident.

    3. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior.

    4. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA (unweighted) and an SAT/ACT score of 900/17 or higher.

    5. All applications for the Alumni Scholarship must be submitted to the scholarship committee by March 27, 2020.


    Scholarship application packets must include:

    a. A typed, completed, and signed Raleigh-Wake Alumni Scholarship Application form

    b. An official copy of high school transcript

    c. A copy of SAT or ACT test score

    d. Two letters of recommendation - One letter of recommendation from school (faculty or administrator) and One letter from a non-relative who can attest to your community involvement, character, and abilities (i.e., NCCU alumnus, community leader, employer)


    Applicant finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship committee—three alumni members and the president of the Raleigh-Wake chapter.

  • Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship Fund: Deadline - 03/27/20

    Emma L. Cunningham made an ever-lasting impact on thousands of students while she taught at Garner Magnet High School in Garner, NC & Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, NY. Today, her spirit lives on through a public charity scholarship fund created in her memory. 


    Continued education was extremely important to Mrs. Emma Cunningham. She consistently encouraged her senior students to attend college. Therefore, at the end of each school year, one senior student from Garner Magnet High School will receive the Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to support their decision to continue education through college.  


    All senior students planning to attend college and meet the criteria requirements should consider applying for the Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship must be utilized for tuition only and will be paid directly to the recipient’s college of choice.  The recipient’s name, photo and brief excerpt of their essay will be posted on the scholarship’s website (

    1. Graduating senior student from GMHS

  • BBB Torch Scholarships - Deadline: 02/14/20

    BBB Torch Scholarships recognize students who personify high ethical standards as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity, and academic history.


    Torch Scholarships are given to college-bound high school juniors, seniors, and college undergraduates who reside or attend school within BBB of Eastern North Carolina's 33-county service area. Scholarship prizes totaling $13,000 will be awarded.


    To be eligible, students must submit a short video, along with an application and transcript. Completed application packets are due by 4:30 p.m., February 14, 2020.
