  • Please note that our College Scholarship list is updated as scholarships come in, usually a weekly basis.  Please scroll through the entire list to check for new updates. For Senior announcements and scholarship info, join the Remind 101 GMHS Senior Announcements 2017-2018 group.

    Seniors, as you receive academic and athletic scholarships, please bring a copy of the notification letter to Mrs. Davidson in Student Services by May 1, 2018. Scholarships are announced at the May Awards Ceremony. In addition, the total scholarship dollars offered the Class of 2018 will be announced at graduation in June. You do not have to attend the college that offers you the scholarship in order for your scholarship to be included in the class total.

  • Scholarship Award Letters Due - May 1, 2018

    Have you received an academic or athletic scholarship?  GMHS wants to recognize YOU!!  

     

    Bring a copy of the notification letter to Mrs. Davidson in Student Services by May 1, 2018.  You may also email the notification to sdavidson2@wcpss.net. Scholarships are announced at the Senior Awards Ceremony and are included in the total dollars offered to the Class of 2018. The Senior Awards Ceremony is May 14 at 7pm.  Reception begins at 6pm.  

     

    You do not have to attend the college that offers you the scholarship in order for your scholarship to be included in the class total.

  • WCPSS Future Teachers Program: Deadline 03/30/18

    The Future Teachers Program is a recruitment initiative aimed at developing WCPSS’ internal student talent. Future Teachers participants are WCPSS high school graduates who intend to pursue careers in education and who plan to commit to teaching with WCPSS upon completion of their teacher preparation programs.

     

    Who is eligible to apply?

    WCPSS graduating high school seniors who have (or will) gain admittance to a college or university for the fall semester, and who intend to pursue K-12 teaching careers with WCPSS in one of the following licensure areas:

    • Birth-Kindergarten
    • Career and Technical Education
    • Elementary Education 
    • English/Language Arts 
    • English Second Language 
    • Math 
    • Science
    • Social Studies 
    • Special Education 
    • World Languages

     

    Future Teacher Application Materials

     

    What do Future Teacher participants receive?

    • Annual summer professional development stipends, beginning the summer following the freshman year of college
    • A WCPSS job offer for a teaching position for which they are licensed and highly qualified
    • The opportunity to develop a professional network with WCPSS staff and peers

     

    What is expected of Future Teachers participants?

    • Maintain status as a student in good standing with their selected universities 
    • Participate in annual required summer professional development, beginning the summer following the freshman year of college
    • Participate in networking with members of their FT cohort and WCPSS staff 
    • Teach with WCPSS for at least three years following the completion of their teacher preparation programs
    • Meet all WCPSS licensure and application requirements

  • Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship Fund: Deadline - 03/02/18

    Emma L. Cunningham made an ever-lasting impact on thousands of students while she taught at Garner Magnet High School in Garner, NC & Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, NY. Today, her spirit lives on through a public charity scholarship fund created in her memory. 

     

    Continued education was extremely important to Mrs. Emma Cunningham. She consistently encouraged her senior students to attend college. Therefore, at the end of each school year, one senior student from Garner Magnet High School will receive the Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2,500.00 to support their decision to continue education through college.

     

    The scholarship will be presented at the end of year Awards Ceremony. All senior students planning to attend college and meet the criteria requirements should consider applying for the Emma L. Cunningham Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship must be utilized for tuition only and will be paid directly to the recipient’s college of choice.  The recipient’s name, photo and brief excerpt of their essay will be posted on the scholarship’s website ( www.elcmsf.org ).

  • Garner Optimist Club: Deadline - 04/15/18

    The members of the Garner Optimist Club are please to bestow $9,000 in academic scholarships to worthy candidates who have accomplished the necessary life and scholastic skills to further pursure their undergraduate studies.  

     

    Scholarships are presented in honor of Abe Wade, a 1996 Charter member, whose dedication and committment to the Garner community provided the framework by which this honor is granted.

     

    Eligibility and requirements

    Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA, SAT score report, acceptance letter to 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning, and completed application.

  • HP Scholarship - Wake Tech - Technology Field Majors: Deadline- 03/23/18

    As part of a partnership with WCPSS Technology Services Dept., HP and Applied Data are offering a one-time scholarship to one WCPSS graduating senior who plans to attend WTCC to study in a technology field.  The scholarship provides $2500 per year ($1250 per semester) for two consecutive years for a total of $5000.  The funds will be provided directly to WTCC to support the scholarship recipient.

     

    Application must be typed in the form below.  Application and teacher letter of recommendation must be turned in to Counselor Mrs. Davidson by 2:30pm on Friday, March 23, 2018.  Please note this deadline is earlier than the deadline listed on the application.  The deadline listed on the application is the date that Counselor Mrs. Davidson needs to submit to county office.

  • Triangle Community Foundation Scholarships: Deadline - Multiple

    Triangle Community Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for funding for the 2018-2019 academic year.  Information and applications for the following scholarships are all available on our website, www.trianglecf.org.  We currently administer many endowed and non-endowed scholarship and award funds established by individual donors and organizations. Each scholarship and award has a unique set of eligibility criteria, application processes, and deadlines, which you can search on our website.

     

    Applications:

    All applications must be submitted by using the Foundation's online system. Applicants will create a profile, upload completed application forms and required attachments, and will provide the names and email addresses of recommenders (if applicable). Recommenders will be notified by email through the portal and will be asked to submit their recommendations online by each scholarship deadline.

     

    Official transcripts should be postmarked by the application deadline and mailed directly to:

  • Garner Civitan Club Scholarship: Deadline- 03/27/18

    Requirements and Eligibility

    1. Members of the Jr. Civitan Club at Garner Magnet High School, children, and/or grandchildren of Civitan Club members.
    2. Applicants must plan to attend a two or four-year college or technical school in the Fall of 2018.
    3. Quality of written statement of education and career goals will be a weighted factor.
    4.  School extracurricular activities and community service will be weighted factors.
    5.  Leadership roles will be assessed.
    6.  Academic achievement will be weighted, but consideration will also be given to those who are not ranked at the top of their class.
    7.  Award amounts to be determined based on the number of applicants.  Scholarship checks are made payable to the applicable college unless otherwise approved by the Scholarship Committee.

     

    A completed application requires:

                b.  A school transcript prepared by the school

     

    GMHS students must turn in completed application to Mrs. Stacy Davidson, School Counselor, by 2:30pm, Tuesday, March 27.

  • Hugh Morson Memorial Scholarship: Deadline - 03/30/18

    Hugh Morson Memorial Scholarship is providing scholarships for deserving students.  Applicants must attend an accredited, public or private, four-year college or university.

     

    Eligibility

    • High school seniors with minimum GPA of 2.5
    • Residents of City of Raleigh, NC
    • Demonstrate academic achievement and financial need
    • Demonstrate traits of high personal character and leadership

  • Trojan Club Athletic Scholarship: Due date - 03/26/18

    Application Requirements

    1.  All applicants will receive the same considerations. An interview with the Scholarship Selection Committee may be requested.

     

    2.  Have a minimum weighted grade point average of 3.0.

     

    3.  Have participated in sports for 3 years (including senior year).

     

    4.  All athletes, cheerleaders, managers and trainers are eligible to apply.

     

    5.  Have been accepted at an institution of higher education.

     

    6.  Submit a transcript of grades with application.

     

    7.  Submit one letter of recommendation from someone other than a coach.

     

    8.  List all other scholarships for which you have applied and/or received.

     

    9.  Detach the coach’s evaluation and give to your coach to complete & return to the Senior Counselor in a sealed envelope (must be on GMHS coaching staff).

     

    Completed application and all materials are due to Counsleor Mrs. Davidson by March 26, 2018, at 2:30pm.

  • Lighthouse Guild Scholarships: Deadline - 03/31/18

    Each year, the Lighthouse Guild scholarship program helps outstanding and deserving legally blind high school students from across the country attend college with scholarships of up to $10,000. Scholarships are based on strong academic accomplishments and merit, and provide additional financial support to help students make a successful transition from high school to a college or university of their choice. Candidates are not required to demonstrate financial need.
