Good evening Silver Hawk families, this is Principal Carter Hillman with your Weekly Memo:

  • All information provided in this Memo is posted on the VMCCA website under the “Principal’s Message.” 
  • Parents and Students: VMCCA’s Spring Break is this week, Monday, March 11th through Friday, March 15th.  There will be no school for students.  Students will return to campus on Monday, March 18th. 
  • A reminder that Daylight Savings begins on Sunday morning at 2:00 AM.  Remember to set your clock forward one hour.
  • The Southern Association of College Admission Counseling is offering a FREE workshop about college admission and financial aid for high school students and parents on Saturday, March 23, from 9:00 AM to 12 PM at the Raleigh Convention Center. Register by March 13th at bit.ly/sacaccaw32324
    Students: The VMCCA National Honor Society wants to coordinate a service project with all students and staff.  The service hour opportunity is called "Mats for a Mission" where they make plastic mats for homeless people. Every 60 plastic grocery bags are worth one hour of service and after that, every 120 is worth an hour. Please drop off your 60 bags and include your name so you can get credit for your service hour.  This is a great way to help our homeless population. The deadline for turning in your bags is Monday, March 18th.  Please bring them to the Media Center to Ms. Ray. 
  • Juniors and Seniors:  Tickets are now available for the Junior/Senior Prom at Marbles Museum on Friday, April 12th for purchase online from the VMCCA Website until Friday, March 22nd.  Cost of tickets is $45.00 per person.  Guest forms are available from Ms. Price and must also be returned by March 22nd.
  • Seniors: Tickets are now available for purchase only for the senior trip to the North Carolina Zoo scheduled for Monday, April 15th.  Cost of a ticket is $45.00.  Price includes breakfast, a catered lunch, your zoo ticket, and Charter Bus transportation.  Deadline for purchasing a ticket is Friday, March 22nd.
  • Keep your students safe, keep in contact with your teachers, and have a good evening.
