    Weekly Memo:  Good evening Silver Hawk families, this is Principal Carter Hillman with your Weekly Memo:

    • All information provided in this Memo is posted on the VMCCA website under the “Principal’s Message.”
    • Show your school spirit with a Vernon Malone car magnet! The PTSA has a new shipment of magnets in stock for $10 each. And, Seniors, be sure to pre-order a yard or window sign for the graduating class of 2022. Signs are $20. You can order online at the PTSA Store (https://vernonmalonecca.memberhub.com/store).
    • Final exams for all second semester courses will begin this week, Thursday, May 19th.  In preparation for final exams, we will be finishing up with mandatory Hawks Nest review sessions tomorrow, Monday, May 16th and Tuesday, May 17th.
    • Wednesday, May 18th is our annual Block Party celebration.  Carpool parents please be advised not to show up for afternoon pickup until 2:10 PM as the Block Party will stop you from moving around to the carpool pickup area.
    • Final exams will begin Thursday, May 19th and continue through Tuesday, May 24th.  Make-up final exam day will be Wednesday, May 25th.  Students, please check with your teachers as to your specific schedule for final exams. 
    • Seniors:  Rehearsal for Graduation is Monday, May 23rd at Meymandi Hall, downtown Raleigh, at 10:30 AM. In order to participate in graduation, seniors must attend rehearsal. Please arrive for rehearsal no later than 10:00 AM.   Seniors will graduate the following day, Tuesday, May 24th at 2:00 PM at Meymandi Hall, downtown Raleigh.  Seniors must arrive for graduation by 1:00 PM to be prepared for the event.  Parking in downtown garages is $7.00.

    • Thank you to all who supported Teacher Appreciation Week last week.  It was a great week of celebration.
    • Students and Parents: Advanced Placement Exams will continue this week.  All dates are listed on the May calendar of the VMCCA website.  Students should check their WCPSS emails regularly with more information and any updates.
    • Show your school spirit with a Vernon Malone car magnet! The PTSA has a new shipment of magnets in stock for $10 each. And, Seniors, be sure to pre-order a yard or window sign for the graduating class of 2022. Signs are $20. You can order online at the PTSA Store (https://vernonmalonecca.memberhub.com/store).
    • Senior parents: The senior awards ceremony is set for this Thursday, May 12th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  All seniors are invited.  Those seniors who will be receiving awards will be receiving notification letters in the mail in the next few weeks.

    • This week is Teacher Appreciation Week.  Please take advantage of the opportunity to thank teachers for the daily energy and effort they put forth to support your student’s success.
    • The PTSA is planning a special lunch for the teachers and staff on Friday, May 6th, and would really appreciate any donations you can make to help make that possible.     • Students and Parents: Advanced Placement Exams begin Tuesday, May 3rd at 8:00.  All dates are listed on the May calendar of the VMCCA website.  Students should be checking their WCPSS emails regularly with more information and any updates.
    • Parents: We invite you to  take the time to complete the Panorama Family Survey as it will help VMCCA shape our understanding of how to serve our family’s needs.  This is the last week for families to take the survey.  The deadline for completing the survey is Friday, May 6th.

    • Parents: We invite you to  take the time to complete the Panorama Family Survey as it will help VMCCA shape our understanding of how to serve our family’s needs.  Only two weeks remain until the survey closes.  The deadline for completing the survey is Friday, May 6th.

    • Parents, this is a reminder that the carpool drop-off/pick-up is at the side of the building toward the front of the school.  Students are not to be dropped off and picked up at the back of the building as it interrupts the flow of vehicles moving through the carpool and causes safety issues.  Please use the designated system as it has been established.
    • Senior parents: The senior awards ceremony is set for Thursday, May 12th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  All seniors are invited.  Those seniors who will be receiving awards will be receiving notification letters in the mail in the next few weeks.

    • Parents: WCPSS parents are invited to participate in the annual Panorama Family Survey.  When invited, please take the time to complete this survey as it will help VMCCA shape our understanding of how to serve our family’s needs.  The survey closes Friday, May 6th.
    • There will be no school for students this Thursday and Friday, April 14th and 15th due to a teacher workday and holiday.  The school will be closed for business both of those days. 
    • Senior Parents: This is a reminder to mark your calendars for the VMCCA Graduation that will take place on Tuesday, May 24th at 2:00 PM at Meymandi Hall, downtown Raleigh.  All seniors will receive ten guest tickets for the event.   More detailed information will be provided in the next few weeks.

    • Seniors: This week, April 4th through April 8th is senior week.  Please check with Mrs. Price on the different events for seniors occurring this week.  The week will finish with the Senior trip to the North Carolina Zoo. Please be advised that student book bags will not be allowed to be brought into the zoo and will be searched prior to students getting on the bus.  
    • Juniors and Seniors who are attending prom: Prom is this Saturday night, April 9th, from 7:00 to 11:00 PM at Marbles Museum.  All guests should have an ID to present at the door.  Please keep in mind that there is no re-entry into prom.  Once you leave, you will not be allowed back into the event.
    • Parents: Beginning tomorrow, April 4th and running through Friday, May 6th, WCPSS parents will be invited to participate in the annual Panorama Family Survey.  When invited, please take the time to complete this survey as it will help VMCCA shape our understanding of how to serve our family’s needs.
    • There will be no school for students next Thursday and Friday, April 14th and 15th, due to a teacher workday and holiday.  The school will be closed for business both of those days. 
    • Parents, as the temperature begins to rise, please remind your student(s) that VMCCA does have a dress code to which students and staff are expected to adhere.  Please remind them we will be monitoring.

    • Parents, we are excited to offer our last virtual live Parent Information Session for the school year. Internships 101 will take place this  Tuesday, March 29th at 10:00 AM & 6:00 PM. This information is specific to parents of rising Juniors and Seniors; however, all parents are welcome to attend. Click HERE to Registrar, we hope you will join us!
    • Seniors and Senior Parents: Jostens will be on campus this Tuesday, March 29th during lunch in the cafeteria to deliver cap & gown units and senior products. All items must be paid for in full before students can receive their products. Online payments must be made 48 hours prior to the delivery date. Cash or money order only will be accepted on the delivery date. If you still need to place an order, please go to www.jostens.com
    • Seniors: The week of April 4th through April 8th is senior week.  Please check with Mrs. Price on the different events for seniors occurring this week.

    • Thanks to everyone who participated in the Spring Spirit Week and making it such a successful week.
    • Parents this is a reminder that based on Board approval, starting tomorrow, Monday, March 7th, wearing a mask inside any WCPSS school is no longer required, but continues to be an option for each person.   
    • Parents, we would appreciate your support in completing our annual Parent Survey so we can continue to improve upon how we serve you and your student(s).  The survey will only be open this week, March 7th through 11th.  You can find the survey on the homepage of VMCCA website.  Click on the green banner at the top of the homepage. Thank you for your continued support.
    • Juniors and Seniors: The last day to purchase Prom tickets is tomorrow, Monday, March 7th.  Tickets are $40.00 each.  As a reminder, Guest tickets cannot be purchased without an approved WCPSS guest form.
    • Students and parents: A reminder that this week, March 7th through the 11th, is the last week of the third quarter marking period for all classes at VMCCA.
    • Seniors:  This year’s senior trip will be a day-trip to the North Carolina Zoo on Friday, April 8th, at a cost of $30 per student.  This includes breakfast, a catered lunch, snack, zoo ticket, and the charter bus.  
    • Seniors and Senior Parents: To order a cap and gown, please visit the VMCCA website, under “Announcements,” or contact Jostens at jostens.com to place your order.
